Proposed Position Environmental Statistics Department Environmental Statistics Methodology Division Senior Expert (civil service position for an indefinite period) Your main responsibilities: plan, organize, and lead Latvia and international projects and regular surveys in the field of environmental statistics, developing content appropriate to project objectives, performing the most important substantive and methodological tasks in the project implementation process, ensuring achievement of project goals; develop and improve new methods for data collection, calculation, and quality assessment in projects under your responsibility; lead and coordinate work in the project team; perform improvements and enhancements in the use of administrative data to reduce direct data collection from respondents; collaborate with state and international institutions, Bureau departments, and divisions on data needs and methodology issues in the development and improvement of the mentioned statistical fields, also consulting with data users. Our Requirements: relevant academic or at least first-level professional higher education; knowledge and practical work experience in data collection, processing, and application of analysis methods; project management experience, preferably including experience in international project management; good knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web browsers; desired skills working with at least one statistical data processing program (R, SQL, Python); English language knowledge at least at B level (oral and written) for methodology understanding and international collaboration; very good cooperation, communication, and analytical skills; presentation and argumentation skills; compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law.
