MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT announces a competition for a SENIOR EXPERT position in the State Sustainable Development Planning Department Territorial Development Assessment Division (state civil service officer position) ABOUT US The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development is the leading state administration institution in regional development planning and coordination, local government development and supervision, territorial development planning and land management, implementation of the single-window agency principle in the accessibility of state and municipal services, as well as in e-governance, digital transformation in state administration, and nature protection. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: participate in shaping territorial and regional development policy; ensure the operation and development of regional development and monitoring assessment systems; ensure analytical work for territorial development assessment, including evaluation of European Union fund investments and monitoring indicators in Latvia's administrative territories. WE EXPECT THAT YOU HAVE: understanding of the principles of state administration and work experience in a state or municipal institution; knowledge of and interest in regional economics, issues of Latvia's and the European Union's regional policy, and preferably experience in working with regional policy issues; understanding and preferably work experience in territorial development planning and monitoring; knowledge and experience in project management; preferably experience in drafting and advancing legal acts and development planning documents; good English language skills (working with documents and cooperation with international partners); ability to work both independently and in a team, developed conceptual thinking and good communication skills, results-oriented approach; higher education in social sciences, preferably in economics or political science; compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law.
