The Nature Protection Agency announces a competition for the position of Senior Expert(-s) of the Monitoring and Planning Division of the Nature Protection Department
(1 position) for an indefinite period (full-time).
Requirements for candidates:
Level 2 academic or professional higher education in natural sciences (biology, geography, environmental science, geomatics, or similar field);
knowledge and practical experience in working with legal acts regulating nature and environmental protection or territorial planning documents;
ability to work with state data information systems and large volumes of information at user level;
desired experience working with the Territorial Development Planning Information System (TAPIS);
high sense of responsibility, ability to think analytically, accuracy in completing work tasks, and ability to work under conditions of increased intensity;
good interpersonal, communication, cooperation, and organizational skills;
excellent skills in working with office equipment and MS Office software, ability to use graphic programs (MicroStation and/or ArcView, AutoCAD) will be considered an advantage);
excellent knowledge of the state language.
English language knowledge (for document preparation);
Category B driver's license.
Main work duties:
Organizing the development of nature protection plans, participation in advisory group composition, evaluation of nature protection plans, supervision and evaluation of species and habitat protection plan development;
Gathering and analysis of information in territorial development planning documents, providing conditions and opinions for planning document development, working with the Territorial Development Planning Information System (TAPIS);
Supervision of expert activities in the field of species and habitat protection, evaluation of provided opinions, and compilation and entry of data contained in opinions into the nature data management system "Ozols";
Preparing substantiation for the creation of new specially protected natural territories, revision of boundaries, zoning or categories, as well as reassessment;
Consulting with individuals and legal entities, including on regulatory requirements related to various territorial planning documents;
Participating in meetings and discussions within the scope of your competence, including European Union level nature expert meetings and, if necessary, other international meetings on EU legislation in the field of nature protection;
