Description The Substance Use and Acute Psychiatry operational area serves individuals with substance use disorders with or without concurrent psychiatric issues. The operations are organized into care pathways with outpatient and inpatient care working closely around patients. The operations consist of several specialist units and some clinics are operated in collaboration with social services personnel. The Psychiatric Emergency Department is also part of the operational area. The Psychiatric Emergency Department has a mandate serving all psychiatric services at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Operations run 24/7. As Care Unit Manager, you hold workplace responsibility for both employees employed at the unit and those participating in various on-call rotations emanating from the Psychiatric Emergency Department. The unit has a significant educational mission and receives students from several different professions. The Care Unit Managers oversee the following professional categories at the unit: nurses, care assistants, and medical secretaries. The administrative organization is under review and supervision of medical secretaries may change. The management of the unit includes the following operations: Psychiatry Clinic, Psychiatric Consultation Services, Detoxification Unit (TNE), and Home-Based Acute Psychiatry. The position is a shared leadership role between two people. We are seeking a new Care Unit Manager who will work in shared leadership with the current Care Unit Manager. Responsibilities As Care Unit Manager, you have personnel, budget, and workplace responsibility. You are expected to drive the development of the unit and work toward a positive work environment where employees feel a sense of community, wellbeing, and have opportunities to develop and deliver the best possible care for our patients. In your role as unit manager, you will also participate in the Substance Use and Acute Psychiatry leadership group where you are expected to take an active role in developing the operational area. You may also be assigned responsibility for broader initiatives across the entire operation. The position is broad with many points of contact and offers good opportunities for development both in your professional role and as an individual. The position involves a time-limited five-year management assignment with a permanent employment contract in your base profession. Qualifications We are seeking someone with relevant higher education or relevant experience. An academic background such as a master's degree or doctoral education is meritorious. It is advantageous if you have experience from psychiatric acute care and experience collaborating with other authorities including social services and correctional services. It is meritorious if you have worked several years as a manager and have experience driving change and development initiatives. To succeed in a management role with us, we see that you are driven, have good communication skills, and high integrity. You build relationships easily, show respect for others, and have the ability to create engagement and utilize others' ideas. Based on the operational goals, you are expected to be able to set clear objectives for the unit and employees and to communicate and follow up on these objectives in a clear and structured manner. The work requires quick decision-making ability, courage, systematic thinking, and planning skills.
