The National Heritage Protection Administration is a direct government institution under the Ministry of Culture that implements state policy in the field of cultural monument protection. Our mission is to preserve cultural heritage as a significant factor in human quality of life, by recognizing it, protecting it, integrating it into contemporary life, and promoting its appreciation in society. The National Heritage Protection Administration announces an open competition for a vacant civil service position State Inspector at the Kurzeme Regional Department (for an indefinite period) Requirements for candidates: Compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law; Higher education, with preference given to candidates with education in architecture, history, art history, construction, archaeology, or cultural heritage management and communications; Desired two years of professional experience in a field related to cultural heritage; Knowledge and understanding of cultural monument preservation and the essential regulatory framework for the protection of tangible cultural heritage (work experience in public administration - in decision-making affecting individuals or in the field of tangible cultural heritage preservation - is considered an advantage); Understanding of contemporary philosophy of cultural heritage preservation; Ability to quickly assess and evaluate the preservation condition and threats to cultural monuments, skill in analyzing and formulating opinions; Good communication and cooperation skills, high communication standards; Good skills in working with office equipment and computer programs (MS Office), ability to work with photography equipment, record-keeping skills; Category B driver's license; Knowledge of the state language and at least one foreign language. Main duties: Conduct inspections and surveys of cultural monuments in the Kurzeme region; Provide opinions on the compliance of cultural monument repair, conservation, restoration, and reconstruction work with approved projects; Provide opinions on forestry work and tree felling outside forest cultural monument territories and protection zones (protection belts); Monitor and control the preservation of cultural monuments and compliance with protection standards, and ensure persons are held administratively liable within the territorial competence of the regional department; Monitor the general situation in cultural heritage protection in the Kurzeme region and designated cultural monument typological groups; Prepare drafts of administrative acts and letters; Within the scope of competence, advise cultural monument owners (managers) and the public on cultural heritage preservation issues.
