Do you want to work with us to ensure democratically and legally conducted elections? We are now looking for you to work in an agency that plays an important and central role in the democratic process. About the job The Election Authority is the central election authority and is responsible nationally for planning, coordinating, and conducting general elections and referendums. The agency is also responsible for handling tasks within the framework of the European Union's citizens' initiative. In this position as an election official at the Election Authority, you will work on conducting elections and development work related to the election process in areas such as election geography, statistics on eligible voters, and election results. This may include participating in the development of educational materials, requirement specifications, and creation of procedures within the work area. During certain periods between and before elections, part of your work involves administering election geography, i.e., polling districts and constituencies as well as properties. Your work includes, among other things, ordering files from the National Land Survey and the Population Register, preparing instructions and materials for municipalities and county administrative boards in preparation for work with polling districts, and compiling files. In connection with elections, you work with determining election results, seat distribution among parties, and ensuring that representatives and substitutes are appointed correctly. You perform calculations for the probability that seat distribution is affected by various circumstances and ensure that results are presented in a pedagogical manner. You provide ongoing support both internally and externally, primarily to county administrative boards and municipalities. General administrative tasks also occur, such as appointing new representatives in case of vacancies during the mandate period and answering questions from the public. The Swedish Tax Agency is the parent authority for the Election Authority, and everyone who works for the Election Authority is employed by the Swedish Tax Agency with placement at the Election Authority's office in Sundbyberg. The office consists of approximately 45 employees, and you will work in the team that handles areas such as election geography, voting rights, and election results. In this job, you shall: - promote a stable and confidence-building work atmosphere and collaborate - act on your own initiative, be self-driven, and take responsibility for results - understand and analyze complex questions and problems quickly and make sensible and rational assessments - be flexible and quickly adapt to new conditions - have a methodical and systematic working approach - have a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing - have good pedagogical skills You must also have: - a completed university education of at least 180 credits (120 points) with a statistical/mathematical or equivalent focus - relevant and current experience working with qualified statistical/mathematical calculation models or methods - experience retrieving and processing data from databases using, for example, SQL and Excel - experience visualizing statistics It is also desirable that you have good knowledge in GIS analysis with experience in, for example, ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent. Good to know The employment is permanent. A probationary period will be applied. Tests may be used in the recruitment process. Employment with us may involve placement in a security classification. A security clearance with record review in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment.
