Welcome to us Vällingby School is expanding its adapted elementary school and seeking a recreation center teacher who wants to be part of developing our operations. Vällingby School is a pleasant F-9 school with an adapted elementary program located close to Vällingby center and beautiful green areas. In total, there are approximately 740 students and 140 staff members here. At Vällingby School's adapted elementary school, we have had students in grades 7-9 for several years. As of spring term 2026, we have also begun accepting students in grades 1-6 and will expand this program further in fall term 2026. At Vällingby School, there is dedicated and experienced staff striving to provide the best possible school for their students. In recent school years, we have invested in strengthening the school's student wellness work by expanding the number of special education teachers, counselors, and school nurses, as well as introducing full-time mentors in grades 4-9. During the previous school year, the school became LGBTQ+ certified! The school leadership consists of a principal, three assistant principals, and an administrative director. Vällingby School's student wellness team consists of the principal, assistant principals, special education specialists, school nurses, a psychologist, study and career counselors, and two counselors. We have a special education specialist at each level and also special education teachers. Your role In your role as a recreation center teacher, you will be responsible for ensuring that instruction is designed in accordance with school law, the curriculum, and other national and municipal regulatory documents. During recreation time for students in grades 1-6 and short-term activities for students in grades 7-9, you and your colleagues offer students meaningful leisure time by taking their needs, interests, and experiences as a starting point, while also continuously challenging students further and inspiring new discoveries. In your teaching, you work to promote students' imagination, empathy, and ability to learn together with others through play, movement, and creative expression through aesthetic forms, as well as exploratory and practical methods. You are a clear leader with the ability to create a work environment characterized by learning, safety, and community, and you are motivated by seeing each student develop according to their individual circumstances. You have high expectations for students and their ability to develop. You are organized, responsible, unpretentious, communicative, and have a good ability to plan and prioritize your work. You work in close collaboration with your colleagues both during school hours and during recreation and short-term activity time. Together with your colleagues, you work toward a trusting, open, and respectful partnership with families. Your work is characterized by collaboration, participation, and a desire to develop the operations – always with the student's best interests at the center. Your competence and experience You who are applying: are a certified recreation center teacher have experience conducting instruction that gives students the opportunity to develop ideas, solve problems, and implement ideas into action have experience in adapted elementary schools and working with students with intellectual disabilities and various types of neurodevelopmental diagnoses have good insight and knowledge of the adapted elementary school and recreation center regulatory documents follow up, assess, communicate, and document the student's knowledge development and thereby support the student's development and learning have good collaboration skills and can build good relationships master the Swedish language both orally and in writing You are secure, stable, have good self-awareness, and adapt your approach depending on the situation.
