Welcome to join us! Your Responsibilities As a caretaker, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of our sports facilities, both indoor and outdoor. The work varies throughout the year and includes everything from grass cutting, line marking, and weed removal to cleaning and maintenance of the facilities' equipment. You will also participate in basic property maintenance and preparations for various events, such as ensuring that the technology works and that the field and arena are ready for a match. Since much of the work takes place outdoors, you will have the opportunity to move around and work in different environments. Operating machinery such as lawnmowers, utility carriers, and tractors is part of the tasks, but no prior experience is required. We provide on-site training. You will work both independently and as part of a team where collaboration and communication are important parts of daily work. In this role, you will also have close contact with the unit manager and operations manager. As a new employee, you will receive comprehensive introduction where you work alongside a colleague. Working hours vary within the span 06:00–19:00 according to a rotating schedule. Weekend work occurs to some extent. Your Workplace You will become part of the Culture and Recreation Department, whose mission is to develop cultural, sports, and recreational life for residents of Linköping Municipality. The department consists of approximately 250 employees and is organized into a management office and four departments: Culture, Library, Youth & Recreation, and Sports & Outdoor Activities. The position belongs to the Sports & Outdoor Activities department, the Facilities Operations unit, where we are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the municipality's approximately 55 sports facilities. We are based at Linköping Arena and consist of a unit manager, an operations manager, and approximately 10 caretakers. About You We see that you have a high school diploma and previous experience with outdoor maintenance, for example in gardening, parks, sports facilities, golf courses, or cemeteries. If you also have work experience in property maintenance, that is a plus. We would like to see that you have experience in sports equipment maintenance or in service and customer contact in similar operations, but it is not a requirement. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, be accustomed to using digital tools, and have a Category B driver's license with manual transmission, as you will be moving between different facilities. You are a responsible person who structures your work efficiently and moves it forward. As a sports caretaker, you serve the municipality's schools and sports associations with maintenance and operation, which means you need to be attentive and accommodating in your interactions. You have a genuine interest in helping others, strive to deliver solutions, and ensure high quality in everything you do. Because the position involves many contact points and teamwork, it is important that you are responsive, flexible, and have a good ability to work well with others. You bring energy, create participation and consensus around the operation, and contribute with new ideas and approaches. The position involves work in environments where children are present.
