Head of the Architecture and Arts Department of the National Heritage Protection Authority (permanent position)
Requirements for Candidates
- Compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law;
- Higher academic or professional education in architecture or another field relevant to the duties of the position. Education in architecture will be considered a preference;
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of cultural heritage protection, research, documentation, or management;
- At least 3 years of experience in a management position or in managing projects and teams;
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory acts governing cultural heritage protection;
- In-depth knowledge in the field of architecture and cultural heritage;
- Understanding of territorial development planning, construction, and cultural heritage preservation processes;
- Strategic vision, ability to make informed decisions, set priorities, and achieve results;
- Highly developed cooperation, communication, and team management skills;
- State language proficiency at C1 level and proficiency in at least one foreign language at B2 level;
- Good digital skills, including work with geographic information systems, document management, and office information systems.
Preferences for Candidates with
- A doctoral degree or equivalent qualification obtained abroad and recognized in Latvia;
- Experience in state administration;
- Experience managing cultural monument preservation, research, or development projects;
- Experience collaborating with professional organizations in the field, scientific institutions, or international partners;
- A Category B driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, organize, and coordinate the work of the Architecture and Arts Department;
- Determine departmental work priorities, plan resources, and ensure efficient and timely completion of assigned tasks;
- Lead the evaluation of cultural monument preservation, restoration, use, and reconstruction processes;
- Organize the development of methodological materials and guidelines for addressing architectural and art monument preservation issues;
- Coordinate complex and strategically significant cultural heritage preservation matters;
- Represent the Authority in state and municipal institutions, working groups, advisory councils, and other professional activities.
