Do you want to combine thermodynamics and calculations with building and testing what you've engineered? As a development engineer, you'll be part of a small team developing engine systems for submarines – from concept and technical analysis to prototype and testing. About the Role As a development engineer, you'll work on developing, improving, and adapting an engine system for submarines, both in new systems and upgrades of existing vessels. The team is responsible for the entire chain from concept to verified solution. Details are manufactured by external suppliers, while assembly and testing take place in the in-house lab. The focus of the role is on the theoretical side. You develop ideas and solutions through calculations, simulations, and analyses and enjoy sketching in CAD yourself, while engineers develop the design documentation. Part of your time is also spent in the lab building, modifying, and testing prototypes. When an existing engine behaves unexpectedly, you're the one who gets to the bottom of the problem. Summary of Responsibilities: Develop and improve the engine system and its related systems Perform technical calculations, simulations, and analyses to evaluate different solutions Build, modify, and assemble prototypes and develop test procedures and conduct testing Troubleshoot phenomena on existing engines and drive solutions all the way to a verified product Collaborate with engineers in electrical, automation, and mechanical fields, testing, and suppliers About You You are a theoretically strong engineer who also enjoys the practical side – you want to understand why something works, calculate it, and then see it work in reality. You are curious and humble, enjoy sharing your knowledge, and thrive in a team where solutions are developed together. You stay focused easily in an open office environment and take responsibility for driving your technical tasks to completion. We're looking for someone with: Master's degree in Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent At least 2–3 years of experience in technical development, for example in machine components, engines, energy processes, thermodynamics calculations, or CFD Strong Swedish language skills, both spoken and written Ability to undergo and pass a security clearance before employment, which may require certain citizenship requirements Meritorious: Experience with or interest in engines Experience with technical calculations and simulations, for example CFD Advanced knowledge of thermodynamics Experience working in CAD Doctorate (PhD) in a relevant field About the Company The client company is one of Sweden's largest actors in defense and security.
