The Marine Management Department is responsible for coordinating and developing Sweden's work with the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive and for marine spatial planning and other maritime issues. The department also handles fisheries matters, both national management and implementation of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy in Sweden. We work closely with other departments within the agency and with external stakeholders, and we apply ecosystem-based management from source to sea.
At the Marine Environment Unit, 17 people work on, among other things, Sweden's implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive including action programmes, initial assessments, regulations, guidance and EU reporting. Work Tasks
In your assignment, you will drive and coordinate strategic measures work to reduce pressures on the marine environment. Your work will contribute to the agency's ambition to conduct more efficient measures work from source to sea. The work requires broad collaboration within the agency and with external stakeholders, such as other authorities and some international work.
In your work you will
Analyze, lead and conduct investigations,
drive internal and external projects such as government assignments,
be responsible for procurements and commissioning of measures, from complex technical feasibility studies to contract negotiations, with a focus on good information management and information security
commission necessary expert support and knowledge bases from universities and other knowledge providers to ensure access to well-founded decision-making materials
The role includes close collaboration with colleagues, authorities, and other external stakeholders on matters concerning marine environmental measures work.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
An academic degree at advanced level (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental science, marine biology, natural science, social science or another relevant field.
At least five years of experience in qualified work in environmental, marine or water management, or alternatively another related field.
Documented experience of leading, coordinating and driving complex projects, assignments or processes together with multiple stakeholders.
Experience of work in a government agency, other public activity or organization with administrative-related assignments.
Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
Experience in developing decision-making materials, investigations or strategic analyses.
Meritorious:
Experience of working with marine environmental issues, eutrophication, environmental contaminants or other pressures on the marine environment.
Experience in planning, allocating and monitoring government funds, grants or measures initiatives.
Experience of procurement, client role or management of external suppliers and consultants.
Experience of government assignments or work in a politically managed organization.
Experience of national or international collaboration in the environmental field.
Experience of interpreting and applying relevant environmental legislation

Terms
The salary range for the position is between SEK 48,000 - 54,000 per month and is based on proficiency in relation to competence relevant for the position. The employment is permanent on a full-time basis. A probationary period may be applied. Start as soon as possible after agreement. The employment is based in Gothenburg. The starting point is that the work is normally performed in the agency's premises, however, employees may, after agreement with the unit manager, work a maximum of two days of a full-time position or alternatively work time corresponding to two days per week remotely.
