The Department of Geological Sciences (IGV) is part of the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. It comprises approximately 80 employees including teachers, researchers, doctoral students, and technical/administrative staff. We conduct internationally recognized research and education in geology, geochemistry, and marine geoscience. The Department combines classical geological disciplines with modern analytical and interdisciplinary methods and has strong connections to the Bolin Centre for Climate Research and Stockholm University's Baltic Sea Centre. Responsibilities The position encompasses responsibility for and coordination of the following areas, as required during the academic year: Teaching and student support for the Department's distance courses, including providing feedback and support through digital learning platforms, such as Canvas, Moodle, or other web-based teaching tools. Administrative and technical support to teaching staff, including managing course schedules in the university's scheduling system, administration and support to students in the university's administrative system (currently Ladok), and development and administration of course pages in digital learning platforms. Operational coordination of the Erasmus program, including administration in relevant systems (for example Mobility Online and Ladok), coordination and support for incoming and outgoing exchange students, development and administration of exchange agreements with international institutions, and practical guidance to students regarding course selection and mobility within international exchanges. Administrative support for examination in distance education and digital examination and assessment processes. Where needed, participation in geological field excursions, including driving and practical support for teaching excursions and field courses. Work responsibilities may develop over time based on the Department's needs and your competence and experience. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in geoscience or a related subject area within geoscience/Earth Sciences at the time of employment. Experience in higher education teaching, teaching support, educational administration, or student support. Experience working with digital learning platforms and web-based educational tools, such as Canvas, Moodle, or equivalent. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Very good communication and interpersonal skills and documented ability to work closely with students and staff. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative work and learning environment. Good knowledge of Swedish and very good knowledge of English, as well as good knowledge of geoscience terminology. Meritorious Master's degree in geoscience or a related subject area within Earth Sciences. Experience in Erasmus program administration or international student exchanges. Experience with digital examination and digital assessment processes. Experience with TimeEdit or similar scheduling systems. Experience with Canvas, Moodle, and other relevant digital educational tools. Experience with or documented interest in using AI-supported tools and digital innovation to develop teaching, student interaction, and efficiency in educational support. Knowledge of administrative and education-related procedures at Stockholm University. A driver's license is meritorious as the position may involve limited participation in field excursions. About the Employment The position is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
