Job Responsibilities
The position consists of teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels as well as conducting independent research in statistics. The role also includes course development, course responsibility, and thesis supervision. The applicant is also expected to engage in pedagogical development work and participate in other departmental activities such as serving as a member of committees and working groups.
Teaching and thesis supervision at the undergraduate level takes place mainly in Swedish, and at the advanced level exclusively in English.
The applicant is expected to contribute to the department's development work in research and teaching.
Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, an applicant must have a doctoral degree in statistics, or another related field, or have equivalent scientific competence and have demonstrated pedagogical skill. Applicants without a doctoral degree in statistics must have documented skills that clearly demonstrate statistical competence.
The applicant must have documented ability to use English in speech and writing at a professional level. This can be demonstrated, for example, through documented experience of teaching in English or a certificate of language proficiency equivalent to at least B2 level (CEFR).
The applicant must have both the ability to collaborate and the competence and suitability otherwise needed to perform the job duties well.
Evaluation Criteria
Particular and equal weight is placed on pedagogical and scientific skill within the field of statistics or another related area. Scientific skill is demonstrated through clearly documented research experience. Pedagogical skill is normally demonstrated through teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels. The skill must be well documented in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the pedagogical activities.
Great weight is placed on:
documented ability to collaborate with colleagues and coworkers.
successfully planning, applying for, and obtaining funding for research projects from external funders.
documented experience in integrating statistical theory with modern computational methods in teaching or research.
documented ability to use Swedish in speech and writing at a professional level. This can be demonstrated, for example, through documented experience of teaching in Swedish or a certificate of language proficiency equivalent to at least B2 level (CEFR).
Weight is placed on:
administrative skill and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and communicate about research and development work.
documented experience in applying statistics within other subject areas.
Higher education pedagogy training of at least 15 credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways is considered meritorious.
About the Position
The employment is permanent and full-time, with a start date by agreement.
The employment includes competence and research time according to current collective agreement terms.
Applicants lacking higher education pedagogy training of at least 15 credits and who are not assessed to have acquired equivalent knowledge in other ways must complete such training during the first two years of employment.
Additional Information
Swedish language proficiency is not a requirement for the position, but an applicant who is offered employment and does not speak Swedish at the time of employment must be prepared to, if needed, take on administrative and pedagogical duties within two years that require understanding and use of Swedish.
