The Department of Pedagogy, Communication and Learning (IPKL) is part of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Göteborgs University. The department conducts extensive and internationally leading research on children's and young people's living conditions, on preschools and children's learning, on the consequences of digitalization for schools and education, as well as on adult learning in working life and other contexts. The department provides education at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, with the most extensive responsibility being teaching in the preschool teacher program and primary teacher program with a focus on work in after-school centers. Subject Pedagogy Subject Description Pedagogy as a scientific discipline forms knowledge about the social, cultural, historical and material conditions and processes that shape and change human beings. Within pedagogy, various aspects of education, training, teaching, learning, knowledge formation and development are addressed. Work Duties The employment as university lecturer in pedagogy is focused on younger children's learning and teaching in preschool, particularly within mathematics, natural sciences, technology and sustainable development. The employment includes teaching, research and collaboration in pedagogy. Teaching is primarily placed in the preschool pedagogy area in courses on mathematics, natural sciences, technology and sustainable development. Other teaching and supervision within the preschool teacher program may also be included. The applicant is expected to participate in both teaching and examination as well as course coordination and course development. The holder of the position is expected to contribute to research at the department that addresses questions about younger children's learning and development within one or more of the areas of mathematics, natural sciences, technology and sustainable development and simultaneously strengthen their own scientific credentials in these fields. The applicant should be prepared to take a prominent role in the department's work, take initiatives for experience exchanges with the field of practice, and conduct research concerning preschools and children's learning, particularly within mathematics, natural sciences, technology and sustainable development, as well as contribute to ongoing discussions about how education and collaboration within the department's programs for younger children can be developed. This should take place within the framework of one or more of the department's research environments. The applicant is expected to be able to teach in Swedish. Qualifications Eligible for employment as university lecturer in pedagogy is a person who has earned a doctoral degree in pedagogy or in another subject relevant to the employment or has equivalent scientific competence and has demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skill. Evaluation Criteria Evaluation criteria for employment as a teacher are stated in Chapter 4, Sections 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and Göteborgs University's own employment regulations. In the selection, equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical skill. In the selection, the applicant's administrative skill, ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, and ability to inform about education nationally and internationally will also be weighed. Applicants lacking higher education pedagogy training are expected to complete such training, or alternatively acquire equivalent knowledge, within one year from the date of employment. Selection and evaluation will be based on the following criteria: Documented pedagogical skill in pedagogy/preschool pedagogy, particularly within mathematics, natural sciences, technology and sustainable development. Teaching experience in other teacher education programs or within the educational sciences field in corresponding areas also constitutes a merit. Documented scientific skill in pedagogy/preschool pedagogy, particularly within mathematics, natural sciences, technology and sustainable development, publication in scientific journals Documented skill in planning and developing courses, and in conducting teaching, supervision and examination at bachelor's and master's levels within the employment area. Documented skill in collaborating with the surrounding society, including the ability to communicate education and research issues nationally and internationally. Documented experience in administering, leading and developing activities, personnel, academic collaborations, and academic positions of trust. The department will primarily consider the applicant(s) who, after a comprehensive assessment, are deemed to have the best prerequisites to collaborate internally and externally to implement and develop the above-described work duties and actively contribute scientifically and pedagogically to the department's development. Employment The employment is a fixed-term position for up to six months, but no later than June 2027, with an extent of 50-100%. Possible opportunity for extension. The employment is placed at the Department of Pedagogy, Communication and Learning. Start date by agreement.
