The Faculty of Medicine is one of the largest faculties at Umeå University and attracts many students with a comprehensive range of programs in medicine, dentistry, health, and care. At the Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine, we conduct research and teach in multiple subject areas in close collaboration with the four Norrland regions. We have internationally recognized research environments where the breadth of subject areas enables innovation and collaboration across boundaries. Most of our researchers and teachers work clinically, and our facilities are located at the regional hospitals in Östersund, Sunderbyn, Sundsvall, and Umeå - in the midst of the operations. Subject Medicine Work Tasks The work tasks include teaching/supervision and management assignments, primarily within the subject area of medicine/internal medicine in basic and advanced level education in the medical program, but corresponding assignments in other subject areas at different terms of the program are also included. Teaching in other programs and courses and/or in related subject areas within the medical program may occur, as well as teaching in general competencies included in professional education. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English and will partly take place via internet-based distance methods. The work tasks include research and development work, as well as teaching and supervision within doctoral level education in medicine or related subject areas. Administrative tasks and assignments within the department and the Faculty of Medicine are part of the position. Management of personnel and operations is included as the lecturer is expected to lead their own research group. Management of personnel and operations in teaching in the capacity of study director/course coordinator or similar may be included. The employment is a permanent position at 100%. The duty station is Sunderbyn, but work at other study locations of the medical program is included, particularly Umeå. The position as university lecturer is combined with employment as a specialist physician in internal medicine at Region Norrbotten, which involves clinical work tasks of up to 13 hours per week. Qualifications Eligible for employment as a university lecturer is one who has demonstrated teaching skills and has completed a doctoral degree or possesses equivalent scientific competence. To be eligible for employment, the applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and English. The applicant is expected to demonstrate a certain degree of scientific independence and be able to present their own, current research program. The applicant is furthermore expected to have completed university pedagogy education corresponding to 7.5 credits or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. To be eligible for employment, the applicant must have documented experience in research within medicine or related subject areas. To be eligible for employment, the applicant must have documented subject competence in the teaching subject internal medicine. Since the employment is combined with employment as a specialist physician, a medical license and a specialist certificate in internal medicine are required to be employed, and clinical competence is a qualification requirement. Furthermore, necessary language skills in Swedish, Danish, or Norwegian are required (according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's definition).
