The Department of Industrial Economics, Industrial Design, and Mechanical Engineering is now seeking a University Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. The department carries out education and research in industrial economics, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. A common foundation for the activities is to develop knowledge about industrial systems, organizations, processes, flows, and products with consideration for social, economic, and ecological sustainability. The department has a strong connection to the surrounding society, and students, teachers, and researchers work in close collaboration with industry and authorities.
Responsibilities
As a University Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, you will devote your working time to both teaching and research, as well as related collaboration.
Teaching includes planning, conducting, evaluating, and developing courses at basic and advanced levels. Within mechanical engineering and industrial economics, we provide education at the higher technical degree, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, as well as our own doctoral education in the field. Work is also underway to develop a civil engineering degree program with a planned start in fall 2027.
The educational programs have access to extensive workshop resources, such as a model workshop, a biobasic materials workshop, a wood workshop, a metal workshop, a machine workshop, and a 3D printing workshop.
Research includes initiating, conducting, and reporting research, supervising doctoral students, and seeking and obtaining research funding. An important part of the position is to contribute to increasing external research funding and increasing collaboration with the surrounding society.
Your workplace will be at Gävle University, where most of your working time will be spent.
Qualifications
The requirement for employment is a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, industrial economics, or another subject that the employer considers equivalent, with specialization in product development, production development, or sustainable production processes. To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer, you must also have demonstrated pedagogical skill.
You must also have:
Significant experience in teaching activities including planning, implementation (instruction and examination), evaluation, and development of education.
Completed higher education pedagogy training equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time study or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
Good ability to work innovatively and independently.
Good ability to collaborate and build good relationships internally and externally.
It is advantageous if you have:
Good ability to initiate, conduct, and report research of high scientific quality.
Good ability to seek and obtain external research funding and to manage your own research projects.
Good ability to collaborate within relevant national or international research networks as well as with the surrounding society.
Experience in doctoral student supervision.
Experience in commissioned education.
Experience in distance education.
Experience from work in industry.
Docent merits.
