The Police Program is a commissioned education provided on behalf of the Swedish Police Authority and leads to a university degree of 120 credits in police work. The academy also offers a bachelor's program in police work with a focus on criminal investigation. The academy also offers standalone courses in criminology. The Police Program is University of Borås's largest commissioned education and is of great strategic importance for the university and for the overall national police education. The academy is organized into two departments: the Department of Police Education and the Department of Police Work. Education is conducted on the university campus and in police education's state-of-the-art training facilities on Sagagatan and Guttasjön. The academy is a young operation characterized by strong development and extensive expansion. The academy has just over 760 students and approximately 100 employees. When fully developed in spring 2028, the number of students at the academy in the police program alone will be approximately 960. Staff consists of academic teachers, police instructors who are employed by the Swedish Police Authority but placed at the academy, as well as technical and administrative personnel. The Police Program integrates theory and advanced skills training. This means that teachers with police expertise as well as teachers with academic expertise collaborate in all parts of teaching. Police exercises, skills training, and field studies alternate with scientifically-based instruction. The Police Program is largely problem-based and integrates different knowledge areas. One of the underlying ideas is that knowledge should be deepened through reflection, analysis, and independent examination. Within police work, subject content, theories, methods, and work procedures that form the basis for police work are studied. The main area of Police Work rests on an academic, multi-disciplinary basis and is situated at the intersection of social sciences, behavioral sciences, medicine, technology, and humanities. Law, criminology, psychology, and political science are particularly important components. The programs consist mainly of the Police Program but also a Bachelor's Continuation in Police Work with a focus on criminal investigation and standalone courses in criminology from a municipal perspective as well as crime analysis. The work includes everything from responsibility for planning and developing teaching to implementation and follow-up. It also involves monitoring developments within your own subject area and broader societal developments that are relevant to ensuring the content of police education, and ensuring that the content is based on scientific grounds and proven experience. The academy's work is characterized by collegial collaboration, which is why good collaborative skills with other teachers at the academy and cooperation with representatives of the profession are crucial. As a lecturer, you should also be part of developing the research area within police work and actively seek research funding. Further, the position includes representing the Academy for Police Work in the university's various collegial bodies, such as committees, boards, and councils. Your Qualifications For the position we require: Completed doctoral degree in criminology or equivalent. Completed university pedagogy education comprising at least 10 weeks of full-time studies (15 credits) or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. Demonstrated teaching skills. Ability to communicate clearly and good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing. Documented good collaborative skills. Documented experience in pedagogical activities including planning, implementation (teaching and examination), evaluation, and development of education. Ability for high problem-solving skills and flexibility in both development work and administrative work. Ability to work independently and in a structured manner. Good administrative skills. Merits: Experience in teaching and research relevant to police work. Work with crime prevention issues including utilization of research. Broad methodological knowledge, including both qualitative and quantitative methods. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
