Read more about us at: kau.se/jobb Description The Faculty of Health, Science and Engineering is announcing a position as University Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the Department of Engineering and Chemical Sciences. The department conducts extensive research and offers education in chemistry, chemical engineering, civil engineering, and energy and environmental engineering. The department currently has approximately 60 employees and is responsible for two master's degree programs, two engineering degree programs, and one bachelor's degree program. We also offer courses in teacher education and several other master's degree programs. We are now looking for colleagues who can be part of our activities in teaching, developing existing and new collaborations with industry, and being part of the research environment. The Master's Program in Chemical Engineering focuses on developing new materials and sustainable manufacturing processes. The department also operates a corporate research school, EXACT. Its aim is to contribute to sustainable manufacturing industry and future-proof Swedish process industry through needs-driven research. The educational programs have a strong connection to the research conducted at Karlstad University, and researchers are engaged in: Pro2BE (https://www.kau.se/pro2be) Corporate Research School EXACT (https://www.kau.se/exact) Mission 0 House (https://www.lindholmen.se/mission-0-house) Responsibilities Your main responsibilities include teaching in the Master's Program in Chemical Engineering, as well as teaching in the Bachelor's Program in Chemistry and contributing to course development. Teaching includes both lectures and laboratory instruction. You will also conduct research and supervise doctoral students. Administrative tasks and assignments within the university's operations may also be included. You will collaborate with the surrounding society for mutual exchange and work to ensure that the knowledge and expertise at the university benefits society. An important part of your responsibilities in the collaboration area is conducting studies for industry in chemical technical analyses linked to Karlstad University's test bed environment and with staff and companies connected to the Pro2BE research environment. To contribute to a good work environment and development of operations, you will be present and participate in daily work and the community. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer in Chemical Engineering, you must have demonstrated teaching skills. In addition, a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence in chemical engineering is required, or alternatively other professional skills that are relevant given the subject content and work tasks of the position. Since most of the teaching takes place in Swedish, the position requires good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing. Good knowledge of English in speech and writing is also a requirement. According to Karlstad University's employment regulations, teachers must have completed university pedagogy training. If such training is lacking, employment can still be granted on the condition that the employee commits to completing it within the framework of competence development during the first two years of employment, or alternatively applies to have equivalent knowledge validated. Additional qualification requirements according to the employment regulations: High quality and relevance of scientific production. Ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to communicate about activities and results. Ability to drive and develop research/activities in the current field. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, develop and evaluate teaching, examination and other educational activities, at different levels and with varying teaching methods.
