The Department of Economics, Geography, Law, and Tourism operates at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. Activities include research and education in the fields of business economics, law, economics, statistics, geography, and tourism science. Job Responsibilities Work as a lecturer consists primarily of teaching at the undergraduate level, particularly in the Public Law Program. The Public Law Program is a three-year bachelor's program combined with political science. Teaching also includes courses in other educational programs, independent courses, and commissioned education. The position is primarily focused on teaching and research in the field of public law with special emphasis on municipal law and public procurement. Job responsibilities include teaching in other areas of public law, such as general and special administrative law, administrative procedural law, and EU law. The position includes research with free research funding, the scope of which varies and is decided jointly by the department's research collegium. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include student supervision, course coordination, course and program development, and independent research. The applicant is also expected to actively participate in the department's pedagogical development work and fulfill administrative and collegial roles at various levels at the university. Professional development and administration take place within the framework of the employment according to the applicable working time agreement and local guidelines (currently 10% of annual working time). Teaching is primarily conducted in-person at Campus Östersund. Travel between the Östersund and Sundsvall campuses may occur. Qualifications A person to be employed as a university lecturer must meet the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations and the rules and guidelines of the Faculty of Humanities. Qualified for employment as a university lecturer in law is a person who has demonstrated pedagogical skills and has earned a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence, or possesses other professional skills that are relevant to the subject content and responsibilities of the position. The qualification refers to a doctoral degree in legal science. For qualification as a university lecturer, higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 credit points or at least 10 weeks of full-time studies is required. If this is lacking, the employed university lecturer must achieve this within two years from the start of employment. Other Requirements Ability to independently plan and conduct research in the field of public law. Ability to independently plan and conduct teaching in Swedish in the field of public law. Excellent knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. It is assumed that the applicant will be physically present on the Östersund campus in the work day and to participate in departmental meetings. Personal Qualities We want you to have good collaborative skills and the ability to work independently and take your own initiatives. Other qualities we value are that you are development- and results-oriented. Evaluation Criteria The degree of skill required for qualification for employment as a lecturer shall apply as evaluation criteria. Equal care is given to the assessment of pedagogical skills as scientific skills. We place great importance on personal qualities. Scientific skill is assessed primarily through a combined assessment of the quality of submitted works, taking into account depth and breadth. In assessing scientific skills, it is meritorious to have conducted independent research in municipal law and public procurement. Scientific publications in both Swedish and English, different types of publications (such as articles and monographs), and publications in collaboration with other researchers are meritorious, as are research grants obtained in competition from external funders and research scholarships. In addition, experience with editorial work, peer review, and doctoral supervision are meritorious. Pedagogical skill is assessed primarily through successful teaching in Swedish in the field of public law, particularly in municipal law and public procurement. Experience with independent teaching, supervision, and examination at various levels (undergraduate, advanced, doctoral level) is meritorious, as is teaching experience in English and in commissioned education. Furthermore, experience with course coordination and course development are meritorious. In assessing other skills, the following merits are desirable and have equal weight: law degree from a Swedish educational institution, experience in collegial and administrative roles at a university or college, and external assignments in the role of researcher (such as board member). Processing Preparation of the employment follows the procedures specified in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations. Employment and Start Date The employment is a permanent full-time position with a start date of 2027-01-01 or by agreement.
