Description of the Subject Area
Health and healthcare research is an interdisciplinary subject that encompasses research on the governance, organization, and outcomes of health and healthcare systems.
Duties
The position includes teaching, research, and administration. Teaching occurs at both basic and advanced levels, primarily in the medical program and master's program in public health in subjects such as health and healthcare research and scientific methodology. Teaching responsibilities also include course coordination and course administration. The duties also involve monitoring developments in the field of health and healthcare research and broader societal developments that are relevant to work at the university and within the research group.
Qualification Requirements
This position requires a doctoral degree in health and healthcare research or a closely related field. To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, one must have demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical competence (3 § 4 kap HF). According to 5 § Employment Regulations for Uppsala University (AO), the general eligibility requirement for teachers is to have the personal qualities required to perform the position well.
The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and examine written assignments in Swedish.
Beyond this, it is meritorious if the applicant has experience teaching in courses relevant to the position and supervising students, as well as ongoing research projects in relevant fields, such as health and healthcare research. All qualifications must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.
Evaluation Criteria
When selecting among eligible applicants, equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical competence. When assessing scientific and pedagogical competence, special weight will be given to experience in research and teaching in the field of health and healthcare research.
Scientific competence refers to research qualifications. When assessing competence, primary weight will be given to scientific quality and the scope regarding breadth and depth. Qualifications and research experience related to health and healthcare research are prioritized. Special weight will be placed on documented experience publishing in international, peer-reviewed journals and on demonstrated ability to competitively obtain external research funding. Importance will also be given to experience leading and/or participating in interdisciplinary research and collaboration projects and on documented ability to collaborate with researchers from other research areas.
Pedagogical competence refers to qualifications in education and teaching. When assessing pedagogical competence, pedagogical quality shall be given highest priority. Scope, regarding both breadth and depth, shall also be considered. When assessing pedagogical competence, special weight will be given to experience teaching that includes health and healthcare research and teaching about scientific methodology. Supervision of master's level thesis work is also considered a qualification.
All qualifications must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.
International experts may be consulted in the evaluation of submitted applications. In such cases, application materials written in Swedish may need to be sent to a translator engaged by the university.
