The National Centre for Knowledge on Men's Violence Against Women (NCK) at Uppsala University and Academic Hospital is a national knowledge center on men's violence against women and intimate partner violence, honor-related violence and oppression, sexual violence, and prostitution and human trafficking. NCK also provides support to victims of violence. Education is one of the cornerstones of NCK's activities. Men's violence against women and intimate partner violence is an independent interdisciplinary knowledge area. This field is now part of higher education programs within several disciplines. Knowledge about violence and its consequences is important in order to provide good care and adequate support to those who have been subjected to violence and their children. Knowledge is also needed to conduct preventive work, create resources, and to change attitudes in society. For further information and description of the knowledge area, see NCK's website. Job Duties The position includes teaching, planning, administration, and examination primarily within the center's courses at basic and advanced levels as well as other educational activities directed toward health and medical care, social services, the justice system, non-profit organizations, etc. The work includes planning courses and educational initiatives in collaboration with the study director and other teachers, as well as being responsible for implementation as a course leader. Implementation of educational assignments in project form may be relevant. The work is conducted primarily from the workplace at NCK in Uppsala. Travel within the country may occur. The work may also include contributing expertise in various contexts both internally in different working groups and externally. Qualification Requirements According to Section 41 of Uppsala University's Employment Regulations (AO), a person eligible for employment as a University Lecturer is one who has completed an exam from higher education and demonstrated teaching ability. When appointing a University Lecturer, the requirement for scientific competence is replaced with a requirement for subject-matter specialization. According to Section 5 AO, the general qualification requirement for teachers is to have the personal qualities required to perform the position well. You must have completed your degree from higher education within a knowledge area relevant to the activities, such as medicine, public health, psychology, sociology, gender studies, social work, law, or human rights. Eligible for employment as a University Lecturer is a person who has university credits within the knowledge area of Men's Violence Against Women and Intimate Partner Violence and/or documented professional experience deemed equivalent. Teaching ability must be demonstrated through extensive qualifications in education according to Section 22 AO, or in another way within the activity area that the education addresses. You must have completed higher education pedagogy education relevant to work within a university or have acquired equivalent knowledge. Since the position involves close collaboration with other teachers, the study director, and activities at NCK, great weight will be placed on personal suitability such as good cooperation and communication skills. Flexibility and the ability to work independently with course leadership and digital systems are very important for the position. Experience with working toward deadlines and the ability to prioritize work tasks are also required. The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and English. (See Sections 6, 22, and 28 AO) Evaluation Criteria Teaching ability refers to educational qualifications. In assessing teaching ability, pedagogical quality shall primarily be considered. Both breadth and depth of scope shall also be given weight. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to link research to teaching, shall be given weight. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with stakeholders within and outside the university is also part of teaching ability. (Section 22 AO, see also Section 15 RB) Documented knowledge of working with educational activities within the area of Men's Violence Against Women and Intimate Partner Violence, education of professionals, and experience of work at a government agency are advantageous. It is also advantageous to have documented experience of professionally working with people in crisis. A doctoral degree within an area that the employer deems relevant to the position is advantageous.
