The Department of Social Work is organizationally part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Linnaeus University. Operations are conducted on the Kalmar and Växjö campuses. We offer education in social work at bachelor's, advanced, and doctoral levels. The research conducted with us is primarily focused on areas concerning living conditions for children and young people, elderly persons and persons with disabilities, research on gender and violence, migration research, as well as labor market and welfare research.

Employment scope: Full-time. Fixed-term employment until July 31, 2027

Job Description
The duties consist of educational planning and teaching in the social worker program and free-standing courses as well as commissioned training for working professionals. The teaching mainly involves teaching about social work methods, integration of theory and practice, and theoretical perspectives within the subject's core areas. Additionally, teaching and coordination of profession-preparatory elements such as Internship Placement (VFU) and Personal Professional Development (PPU) may be included in the work duties. We offer an active learning environment and value employees who initiate and conduct development work within the subject area.
The employment involves collaboration with other teachers, researchers, and the surrounding society nationally and internationally, as well as active participation in the department's shared work. Most of the department's courses include elements of flexible teaching to varying degrees, which requires proficiency in teaching and administering using various digital tools.
Administrative knowledge, ability to cooperate, and flexibility are qualities that are of great importance, both in relation to students and within the teaching community, research environments, and the surrounding society.
Teaching is conducted mainly in Swedish. Travel between the university's two campuses occurs because teaching at both Kalmar and Växjö is part of the employment.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer at Linnaeus University, you must have completed a master's degree in social work or a related subject area, or have equivalent competence, and demonstrated pedagogical skill.
Equivalent competence is generally understood to mean a degree from a foreign university with essentially the same level and quality as a Swedish master's degree in social work or a related subject area.
Good communication skills, both oral and written, in Swedish and English are required.
Selection Criteria
The degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility for employment shall be the assessment criterion when hiring a university lecturer. When selecting among eligible candidates, special emphasis will be placed on pedagogical skill. Pedagogical skill shall concern planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching, as well as supervision and examination.
