The Department of Pedagogy, Communication and Learning (IPKL) is part of the Faculty of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Göteborgs universitet. The department conducts extensive and internationally leading research on children's and young people's living conditions, on preschool and children's learning, on the consequences of digitalization for schools and education, as well as on adult learning in work life and other contexts. The department provides education at basic, advanced, and doctoral levels, with the largest assignment being teaching in the preschool teacher program and primary teacher program with a focus on work in after-school centers. Subject Pedagogy Subject Description Pedagogy as a scientific discipline builds knowledge about the social, cultural, historical, and material conditions and processes that shape and transform people. Within pedagogy, various aspects of upbringing, education, teaching, learning, knowledge formation, and development are addressed. Job Responsibilities The position includes teaching, examination, and course development as well as collaboration in pedagogy. Teaching is primarily relevant in the preschool pedagogy area in courses on mathematics, natural science, technology, and sustainable development. Other teaching within the preschool teacher program may also occur. The applicant should be prepared to take a prominent role in the department's work, take initiatives for experience exchanges with the field of practice, and contribute to ongoing discussion about how education and collaboration within the preschool teacher program can be developed and given space within the department's activities. The applicant is expected to be able to teach in Swedish. Qualifications Qualifications for employment as a teacher are specified in Chapter 4, Sections 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and Göteborgs universitet's own employment regulations. Qualified to be employed as a university lecturer in pedagogy is a person who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has completed higher education at an advanced level or has equivalent competence, or possesses some other skill that is significant in view of the subject content of the position and the work tasks that shall be included in the employment. Assessment Criteria Assessment criteria for employment as a teacher are specified in Chapter 4, Sections 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and Göteborgs universitet's own employment regulations. In the appointment, pedagogical skill will be given weight. Extensive experience of teaching in science-oriented subjects in preschool or in the first years of primary school is a requirement. The applicant's administrative skill, ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, and ability to communicate about the education nationally and internationally will also be considered. Experience in teaching and course development within the area of the position is meritorious. Applicants who lack higher education pedagogy training are expected to complete such training, or acquire equivalent knowledge, within one year from the start of employment. The department will primarily consider the applicant(s) who, after an overall assessment, are deemed to have the best conditions to be able to collaborate internally and externally to implement and develop the work tasks and activities described above and actively contribute to the department's development. Employment The employment is a fixed-term position of up to six months, however no later than June 2027, with a scope of 50-100%. Possible opportunity for extension.
