The Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism operates on Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The activities include research and education in the subjects: business economics, law, economics, statistics, geography and tourism science. Job Responsibilities Mid Sweden University is seeking a temporary university lecturer in economics. The position includes teaching in both distance and campus-based courses in the subject of economics. The teaching covers the courses Microeconomics (A), Macroeconomics (A) and Financial Economics and Currency Systems (B). The campus-based courses are taught within the economics and civil economics programmes, while the independent courses are offered at a distance. The job responsibilities include teaching, examination, supervision, course responsibility and course development within the above-mentioned courses. Administrative tasks related to teaching are also included in the position. Eligibility Anyone to be employed as a university lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations. Qualified for employment is anyone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and subject matter expertise and has a bachelor's degree in economics or equivalent expertise within the subject area that the position concerns. Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish are required for the position. Other Requirements Anyone to be employed as a university lecturer must have demonstrated pedagogical skill. We see that you have very good ability to take own initiative and can work independently. You have very good collaboration skills. Great importance is attached to personal suitability and ability to contribute to the development of the operations. You are organized and willing to collaborate with different parts of the university's administrative units. Assessment Criteria As assessment criteria for employment of a university lecturer apply the degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility for employment. The assessment of pedagogical skill shall be given equal care as the assessment of other eligibility-based circumstances. Particular weight will be given to documented experience of teaching at undergraduate level in economics at university or higher education level and demonstrated pedagogical skill. Experience of teaching in digital learning environments (Canvas) and distance education is meritorious. A master's degree in economics is meritorious. Processing Preparation of the employment proceeds in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations. Employment and Start Date The position is a temporary full-time position at 100% from 15 October 2026 or by agreement/but no later than 30 June 2027. Place of Employment: Östersund. By agreement, there is an opportunity for remote work during autumn term 2026.
