The Police Program is a contract-based education provided on behalf of the Police Authority and leads to a 120-credit university degree in policing. The Academy also offers a bachelor's program in policing with a focus on criminal investigation. The Academy also offers standalone courses in criminology. The Police Program is the University of Borås's largest contract-based education and is of great strategic importance to the university and the overall national police education. The Academy is organized into two departments: the Department of Police Education and the Department of Policing. Education is conducted on the university's campus and in the police training's state-of-the-art training environments on Sagagatan and Guttasjön. The Academy is a young operation characterized by strong development and extensive growth. The Academy has just over 760 students and approximately 100 employees. When fully expanded in spring 2028, the number of students at the academy in the Police Program alone will be approximately 960. Staff consists of academic teachers, police teachers employed by the Police Authority but placed at the academy, and technical and administrative personnel. The Police Program integrates theory and advanced skills training. This means that teachers with policing expertise as well as teachers with academic expertise collaborate in all parts of the instruction. Police exercises, skills training, and field studies are combined with scientifically grounded instruction. The Police Program is largely problem-based and integrates different knowledge areas. One of the fundamental ideas is that knowledge should be deepened through reflection, analysis, and independent examination. Within policing, subject content, theories, methods, and work procedures that form the basis for policing work are studied. The main subject area of Policing rests on an academic, multidisciplinary base and is situated at the intersection of social science, behavioral science, medicine, technology, and humanities. Law, criminology, psychology, and political science are particularly important components. The main subject area of Policing includes police operational competence, which is grounded in proven experience and increasingly in scientific studies. https://www.hb.se/om-hogskolan/jobba-hos-oss/lar-kanna-oss/jobba-hos-oss-pa-akademin-for-polisiart-arbete/ Your Work Tasks The position as university lecturer consists primarily of teaching and supervision of degree projects within the academy's various education programs, mainly the contract-based Police Program but also the Bachelor's Extension in Policing with a focus on criminal investigation and standalone courses in criminology in a municipal perspective as well as crime analysis. The position encompasses everything from planning and developing instruction to implementation and follow-up. Furthermore, it includes ensuring that the content is based on scientific foundation and proven experience. The academy's work is characterized by collegial collaboration, which is why good collaboration skills with other teachers at the academy and cooperation with representatives from the professional field are crucial. Your Qualifications For this position, the following are required: - A completed master's degree in criminology or related field. - Demonstrated pedagogical skill. - Ability to communicate clearly and good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing. - Documented strong collaboration skills. - Documented experience in pedagogical activities including planning, implementation (teaching and examination), evaluation, and development of education. - Good problem-solving ability and flexibility. - Experience in development work as well as administrative work. - Good administrative ability. Meriting factors: - Own research relevant to policing work. - Experience teaching and supervising at a Police Program at a university/college. - Experience developing distance-based instruction. - Experience examining skills subjects within professional education. - Experience in development work within academic activities.
