The Faculty of Technology and Health Sciences offers education and research in technology, health, and information design with a clear focus on societal challenges. Our research is conducted in close collaboration with external partners, nationally and internationally, and contributes to knowledge development and innovation. The faculty has three departments with approximately 500 employees in total. At the Department of Health Science, Innovation and Design, education is provided in connection with various healthcare and health professions. Additionally, education is offered in public health, innovation, and information design. The department conducts strong and applied research addressing socially important problems. Research and education are developed in collaboration with the public sector, business, and civil society to provide students with current, relevant knowledge for their future professional life. Teaching includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and education mission, and as a University Lecturer you actively contribute to the university's development work. Your duties also include general administration, professional development, and participation in daily operations and the work of the subject area and department. For this position, you will conduct teaching and deliver course modules in digital and physical graphic design, visualization, and printing techniques in courses within various programs at MDU such as interaction design, spatial design, visualization and text design, the international master's program in Innovation and Design, and engineering programs with a focus on product development. The role also includes supporting students in design, visualization, and production projects and serving as a specialist resource for faculty, students, and other operations at the university. You will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the print room equipment, provide print and graphic services to operations at MDU, and manage purchasing and inventory of materials and consumables. Eligibility Requirements We are looking for someone who has demonstrated teaching skills and holds a master's degree or equivalent qualification. Teaching skills must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed. To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogy training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those hired without higher education pedagogy training will be offered the opportunity to complete such training within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogy training at Mälardalens University corresponds to ten weeks of study. For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply in addition to those established in the MDU Employment Regulations: Master's degree in a subject relevant to the position, such as graphic design, graphic form, or equivalent qualification. Pedagogical competence and experience in teaching and supervision in digital and physical graphic design and printing techniques at higher education or university level. Strong knowledge of graphic software, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign). Good material knowledge regarding, for example, paper, canvas, vinyl, plexiglas, Re-board, wood, and metal. Knowledge and understanding of graphic design processes and production workflows. Good oral and written communication skills in both Swedish and English at the level required to perform regular duties in teaching and administration. Assessment Criteria The assessment criteria shall be based on the degree of skill required for the position and the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well. In addition to the assessment criteria established in the MDU Employment Regulations, particular weight will be given to the following for this position: Broad expertise in graphic design and visual communication in various media and contexts Experience with procurement and ordering of graphic materials and technical equipment Commitment to graphic design and production Good technical understanding, particularly regarding printing techniques Experience in graphic production in print, printing, and production such as exhibitions, events, and trade fairs Knowledge of the operation, handling, and maintenance of printers and professional printing systems In an overall assessment of suitability, personal abilities are also valued.
