The Faculty of Technology has broad operations spanning eight different institutions through which Linnaeus University provides education and conducts research. Engineering education ranges from short courses of a few weeks or months to five-year civil engineering programs. Research addresses society's needs across several broad fields – both in the short and long term – with basic research and applied research in collaboration with societal actors. The Department of Building Technology, as part of the Faculty of Technology, has extensive collaborations with business partners in both research and education. The department works together with adjacent departments to create a creative environment with challenging education and outstanding research. Research in building technology encompasses timber construction technology, steel, concrete, hybrid and composite construction technology, building physics, building materials, structural condition monitoring, and life cycle analysis. The department currently offers a bachelor's program in building technology, a bachelor's program in architectural design, a two-year master's program in sustainable structural engineering, and a civil engineering program in Building Technology. Area of Specialization for the Position: Building Technology Work Location: Växjö Extent of Employment: 100% permanent position Start Date: According to agreement. Probation is normally applied. Job Description: The position includes teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels, course development, and student supervision. The Department of Building Technology has particular need for teaching expertise in basic building technology, building production, foundation engineering, CAD and BIM, as well as sustainable and resource-efficient construction. The position also includes certain administrative work. Within the employment, there are opportunities to participate in research. Education and research are conducted in collaboration with industry, research institutes, as well as local and national government. This requires you to actively build networks and to follow developments within the sector and societal developments that are relevant to university education. Qualifications Eligible for employment as a University Lecturer at Linnaeus University is someone who has completed a master's degree or civil engineering degree in building technology or has equivalent competence, and has demonstrated pedagogical skills. Equivalent competence is generally understood to mean a degree from a foreign university with essentially the same level and quality as a Swedish master's degree in building technology. For eligibility for this position, proficiency in oral and written communication in Swedish and English is also required. Criteria for Assessment When assessing a University Lecturer, the degree of skill required for eligibility shall apply. Assessment of pedagogical skills shall receive equal attention as assessment of subject matter expertise including scientific skills. It is particularly meritorious to have documented professional skills through industrial experience from the construction sector or related sectors. It is meritorious if the applicant has completed higher education pedagogy training. For this role, you have good collaboration skills, the ability to work independently, are well-organized, and have the ability to prioritize work tasks.
