What We Do and Our Mission Open Care Children and Youth Services is part of the municipality's open care program and offers preventive and therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and their families. The unit provides family therapy, interim care-like services, school social services, family member support, counseling and support conversations, crisis support, field activities, support for young crime victims and young witnesses, parental support groups, and support and treatment through MiniMaria. The unit also includes SSPF, SIG, a youth clinic, and an open preschool that are part of a family center. Open Care Children and Youth currently has approximately 35 employees. The workplace is characterized by a positive atmosphere and a stable team with high expertise and strong commitment to their work. Our facilities are centrally located in Tyresö and are easily accessible by public transportation. About the Position The youth counselor position targets young people ages 10-20 with criminal and/or antisocial behavior. The aim is to provide youth with flexible, highly accessible support. As a youth counselor, you will primarily work with young people assessed to be at risk of being drawn into criminal environments and/or developing a criminal lifestyle, but who are still assessed to be able to remain in their home municipality. The target group may also include young people returning to Tyresö after placement in institutional care (SIS), group homes (HVB), or foster care. The service is designed to be provided in combination with support from SSPF/SIG and treatment directed toward guardians, family, and network, and you will often work in teams with other open care staff. The youth counselor position is divided between two roles; one employee has moved on to new challenges, and we are therefore seeking a replacement. The service is relatively new, having started just over a year ago, and has been well-received so far. Since the service is still under development, we welcome your contributions of knowledge and ideas to continue moving forward. To increase receptiveness with young people, you need to be active and creative as a youth counselor, adapting support to best fit the youth and their family. Since part of the work takes place in the young person's own environments, some work hours may be scheduled for evenings and occasionally weekends; however, you will have considerable flexibility in arranging your work time. Travel within Sweden may occasionally be required. Who Are You? You hold a degree in social work, behavioral science, or other education that, combined with your experience, can be assessed as equivalent. As a youth counselor working on complex cases, you need experience in therapeutic work with adolescents and experience driving change initiatives. The work requires a high degree of independence and creativity, and you need to feel comfortable experimenting with different methods and approaches. You must be comfortable working both independently and in teams with colleagues. You have the ability to be both alliance-building and set clear boundaries. You need to be prepared to meet young people both in their own settings and in structured meetings with other professionals and the youth's personal network. You value collaboration and are committed to building good relationships with partner organizations. You hold a driver's license. It is advantageous if you have training and experience with structured treatment methods targeting this population, such as FFT, rePulse, or criminality programs.
