At the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Gävle, we are approximately 70 employees working together in a pleasant and patient-focused environment. We support all units at Gävle Hospital and offer six intensive care beds. An important part of our operations is also the Mobile Intensive Care Team (MIG). Through our follow-up clinic, we receive valuable feedback from patients and relatives, which helps us continuously develop our care. WORK DUTIES As a nursing assistant on the intensive care unit in Gävle, you work in patient-centered care together with nurses, physicians, physiotherapists, and other nursing assistants. In this role, it is important that you have the ability to recognize both the patient's and relatives' needs and contribute to a safe and respectful care environment. The ICU operates around the clock, which means you work inconvenient hours such as day, evening, night, weekends, and public holidays. In your daily work you will, among other things • care for and monitor severely ill or injured patients who require advanced care and advanced medical technical equipment, such as ventilators and dialysis • work in a team with a nurse and together you are responsible for 1-2 patients, where the care needs vary depending on the patient's condition. You appreciate working together with others and contribute to good cooperation by being responsive and communicative with colleagues, patients, and relatives. As a person, you are empathetic, calm, stable, and responsible, with the ability to make well-founded decisions even in pressured situations. You are flexible and initiative-taking and find it easy to switch between independent work and teamwork. To succeed in this role you should: • be a trained nursing assistant • have previous work experience in acute care • be able to communicate in Swedish in both speech and writing at at least C1 level. If you also have previous work experience in intensive care, this is a merit. Information about the title nursing assistant As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant becomes a protected professional title. This means you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in care and health services. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in care and health services, but with a different title than nursing assistant.
