Description At Thoracic Surgery, Operating Room 2 at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we conduct advanced cardiac and pulmonary surgery in a high-tech environment where every team member plays a crucial role in patient care and safety. Our surgical department consists of five operating rooms, four for cardiac surgery and one for pulmonary surgery. Here we perform traditional surgery as well as minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery. We also have national assignments for highly specialized care (NHV) for heart and lung transplants, as well as surgery for adults with congenital heart defects (ACHD). As a surgical nurse with us, you work not only in the operating department but are also an important part of the operations at Intervention 2. There, you join the ECMO team that participates in the care of patients with cardiac arrest. Job Responsibilities As a surgical nurse in the Thoracic Surgery department, you are an important part of the multidisciplinary surgical team. You work closely with surgical nurses, anesthesia nurses, surgeons, and anesthesiologists to create the best conditions for patient care. Your responsibilities include both operating and anesthesia-related tasks, which gives you broad competence and varied work. The department handles both planned and emergency surgeries, meaning your days are often diverse and developmental. We work according to well-established routines with the patient in focus and with a strong culture of collaboration, quality, and safety. Since operations run around the clock, we work day, evening, and night shifts according to individual scheduling.
