WORK DUTIES
We operate around the clock, which means that as a nursing assistant with us, you work day, evening, and weekend shifts as well as night shifts by agreement. However, during the first year, no night shifts are required. We apply a favorable night shift agreement. We are now expanding our work team and are therefore looking for more nursing assistants. As a nursing assistant with us, you will work with, among other things:
• standard duties on an acute care ward, such as basic nursing care including mobilization, personal hygiene, elimination, and nutrition
• wound dressing changes, dressing changes for negative pressure therapy according to physician orders, and specimen collection
• monitoring vital parameters according to the NEWS2 assessment tool
• observing changes in the patient's condition and reporting your observations to the responsible registered nurse
• documentation in medical record systems
• Green Cross—a tool for identifying risks and care injuries and creating a basis for improvement work that strengthens patient safety.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who maintains structure and focus even under high work pace, is flexible, attentive, and has good teamwork skills, and is constructive in change and development work. It is highly meritorious if you have experience from inpatient care—that is, have worked on a hospital ward previously.
In the role of nursing assistant, you should:
• be a fully trained nursing assistant
• be able to communicate fluently in Swedish in both speech and writing.
As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant becomes a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in care and health services. You can apply for the certificate starting July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in care and health services, but under a different title than nursing assistant. At Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
