The Surgical Center in Umeå's primary goal and mission is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients in the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast and endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, conducted in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Care at the Surgical Center is characterized by a holistic approach where many different professional categories are engaged and collaborate for the best results. At our Surgical Acute Care Unit (KAVA), we handle the acute influx of surgical patients, primarily from the Emergency Department, and offer safe and efficient care in a dynamic environment. The unit has 10 beds, which also enables the Surgical Center at NUS to care for its own surgical patients to a greater extent and has reduced satellite operations. We are now recruiting nursing assistants who want to be part of our team! Work on the Surgical Acute Care Unit is very exciting and stimulating. Together with committed colleagues and other professional groups, you will contribute to building a cohesive team with expertise in acute and traumatic surgical patients. The positions we are recruiting for are permanent positions and extended temporary contracts with possible opportunities for continuation. We offer individualized orientation, support from trained mentors, and scheduled time for reflection and development. WORK TASKS As a nursing assistant with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes colleagues and patients feel safe. You will work within a broad surgical field with a focus on acute care and trauma care. In the unit, we handle abdominal observations, appendicitis, gallstone issues, bowel obstruction, surgical and traumatic injuries. As a nursing assistant, you have an important role in the nursing team where you together are responsible for daily care, nutrition, mobilization, wound care, and other tasks. You work close to the patient and the work includes identifying risks, assessing, addressing, and evaluating the patient's various care needs. You will have an important role in both prioritizing and coordinating care work together with the care team you are part of. Rotation assignments may be relevant, which means you have the opportunity to rotate through our sections to increase your surgical competence. You are warmly welcome to shadow us for a day to see more of the operations. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you with approved nursing assistant education. Since nursing assistant is a protected title, you need to provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare, or alternatively a service certificate that makes you covered by the National Board of Health and Welfare's transitional provisions and allows you to use the title until June 30, 2033. We consider it a merit if you have experience in surgery or acute care. We are looking for you who wants to work in exciting and varied work in an organization under development.
