Job Description About the Role Are you a proactive mechanic or a skilled blacksmith with broad mechanical knowledge? We are now seeking a dedicated maintenance mechanic for our maintenance team at Carbomax in Västerås. Responsibilities Your Work Tasks As a maintenance mechanic, you work closely with our production. The work is entirely guided by what is being produced at the moment, which requires high flexibility and the ability to reprioritize work when urgent needs arise. We perform certain repairs in our workshop, which is equipped with a brand new CNC-controlled mill, as well as in the facilities. Your main areas of responsibility include: Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Perform repairs, oil changes, and ongoing bearing changes on screens, elevators, conveyor belts, and other material handling equipment. Workshop Work: Design and manufacturing of custom segments, platforms, and belt covers in our mechanical workshop. Work Environment and Safety: Conduct ongoing self-inspections on systems such as compressed air systems and strictly comply with applicable safety regulations. Daily Planning: Participation in daily startup meetings at 07:00 where we follow the set weekly plan but adapt to production needs. We are looking for a stable team player with mature hands-on skills and a solution-oriented mindset. You have a good ability to work independently and take own initiative when the situation requires it. Since our production environment can sometimes be demanding, we place enormous emphasis on you having a positive attitude and supporting your colleagues. You have a genuine, broad interest in technology and appreciate a workplace with straightforward and open communication. Formal Requirements: Mechanical Knowledge: Experience with mechanical maintenance work. Your background may be from heavy industry, agricultural machinery, trucks, doors, passenger cars, or similar—the main thing is that you have worked broadly with various types of machinery. Certification: Valid Hot Work certificate and a Class B driver's license. Language: Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Physical Requirements: Good physical condition and mobility. The work involves heavy lifting, lots of stair climbing, and work in tight and ergonomically challenging spaces. You are also aware that the environment is sometimes dusty and certain work tasks require respiratory protection. Meritorious: Welding skills or knowledge of turning and milling. Forklift, hoist, wheel loader, and lift certifications. Electrical knowledge (all electrical competence is seen as a bonus, and we also offer electrical training for mechanics on-site).
