Job Responsibilities With us, you take on a central role in students' education and future choices and become an important part of our collective work to help every student succeed. We work together here. Teachers, mentors, student services, and school leadership collaborate closely on student learning, wellbeing, attendance, and future planning. As an academic and career counselor, you work closely with students throughout their upper secondary education. You guide them regarding study and career choices, further education and work life, but your mission also involves helping students see possibilities, find motivation, and believe in their own future. You are part of the school's student services team and contribute your perspective to preventive and developmental work. Together with the principal, school counselor, school nurse, special educator, special education teacher, teachers, and other staff, you work to identify students needing support early and find paths forward. Your duties include: - Conducting individual counseling sessions and group guidance work, as well as year-level information sessions - Supporting and motivating students in their study planning and future choices - Working closely with students, mentors, teachers, and student services - Participating in the school's work on attendance, motivation, and goal achievement - Sharing responsibility with principals regarding point plans, student study plans, and graduation forecasts - Informing about educational pathways, eligibility requirements, further studies, and the job market - Contributing academic and career guidance perspectives to the school's systematic quality work - Collaborating with guardians, other schools, authorities, employers, and other external partners - Informing prospective students and school counselors at secondary schools about upper secondary education in general, our programs in particular, and possible educational pathways - Participating in fairs, open houses, parent meetings, and other information sessions What We Offer With us, you won't be an academic and career counselor on the side of operations—you become an integral part of it.
