The positions will not be able to be renegotiated into a combined appointment. Since the subject is defined as medical research, there is no specific need to be filled. The purpose of the positions is to recruit internationally competitive researchers with documented ability to conduct independent research of high quality and with clear potential to develop into future leaders in academia.
Duties
The duties primarily include independent research and development work, as well as supervision of master's and doctoral students, but also teaching at the undergraduate level, leadership, and administration. Other duties may also occur.
Qualifications
According to the Higher Education Ordinance 4 chapter 4 §, a person is eligible to be employed as a lecturer if they have demonstrated pedagogical skills and have earned a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are significant considering the subject content and duties of the position.
The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogy training corresponding to at least five weeks or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, unless there are special reasons. The employee shall then undergo higher education pedagogy training during the first two years of employment, so that the requirement is met.
Assessment Criteria
The applicant must have demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skills of significance for the subject. In the assessment, particular weight will be given to scientific skills. The applicant must have demonstrated scientific skills by maintaining a good national and international level as a researcher and have well-documented scientific competence. The applicant must have a doctoral degree within a subject area relevant to the position.
Scientific skills must be documented through an independent research profile that has made an international impact. This means that the applicant has established their own research line that is distinct from previous supervisors or research environments, has ongoing grants obtained in competition with the applicant as principal investigator, experience from a postdoc period conducted in a different environment than where the applicant obtained their doctorate, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Particular consideration will be given to publications with the applicant as senior author.
Weight will also be given to pedagogical skills and the ability to supervise master's students and doctoral candidates. Pedagogical skills must be demonstrated both in teaching and in supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral education levels.
Consideration will also be given to demonstrated ability in leadership, collaboration skills, and demonstrated ability to interact with the surrounding society.
In the appointment, the applicant's scientific development potential will be particularly emphasized. This includes the ability to build and lead a competitive research environment in the long term. The applicant's research profile should further have the potential to strengthen the Faculty's international impact and contribute to the development of excellent research environments. Particular weight will be given to the applicant's potential to develop into a future professor, including the ability to build and lead a competitive research environment in the long term.
