Swedish Customs Agency Seeks Operational Case Officer, Internal Control/Clearance Operations

The Swedish Customs Agency's core operations are divided into four departments: Control, Customs Crime, Intelligence, and Collection. The Swedish Customs Agency is now seeking shift-based operational case officers for the Control Department with placement at Arlanda Internal Control. Internal Control is the part of the Control Department responsible for ensuring that correct customs duties and other fees are collected for goods imported and exported from the country, and for controlling that import and export regulations are followed. The assignment ultimately aims to ensure that only approved goods pass Sweden's borders. About the Position You will work in one of the Control Department's clearance operations where you will be part of an internal control group. Work in an internal control group involves ensuring that companies and individuals comply with customs regulations by reviewing and clearing declarations. The work mainly involves operations work but also vessel clearance and transit flows. You must be willing to wear a uniform and undergo self-defense training if necessary. As a case officer, you work both independently and in a group and make many government decisions daily. The work is performed in several different digital systems and includes contact with people from different countries as well as contact with companies, individuals, and other authorities. New issues and situations require you as a case officer to be flexible and problem-solving. The position is a full-time role and, after completed training and practice, involves shift work according to a rotating schedule at the clearance operations at Arlanda, which is open 24/7, every day of the year. The Swedish Customs Agency is in an exciting but comprehensive change process implementing and complying with new customs legislation with associated new systems. This means you must be curious and interested in learning. But it also means you will need to work with many different digital systems, stay informed of current regulations, and help continuously improve our work methods in accordance with our legislation. Are You the One We're Looking For? We are seeking someone who has: Completed approved upper secondary education plus at least three years of work experience Or: Completed qualified vocational education/vocational college education in freight forwarding, logistics, economics, law, or other areas that the employer deems relevant for the position, or studies of at least 60 credits/90 university credits in freight forwarding, logistics, economics, law, or political science. Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English. Good knowledge of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Swedish driving license, class B for cars. It is meritorious if you have: Work experience in case handling or document administration from other public sector activities, or similar tasks in the private sector. Experience in customs-related work in the past 10 years, such as from the freight forwarding industry or from foreign trade activities. Experience working in service or similar tasks, for example work with customer contacts. A third language in addition to Swedish and English. During your first months as an employee, you will undergo basic training where theory alternates with practice. Training will primarily take place at your work location as distance education. There will also be in-person meetings that may take place elsewhere, which will involve some travel and overnight stays. Employment begins with a six-month probationary period. After a successful probationary period, a permanent employment contract is offered unless otherwise agreed.
