The Swedish Customs Agency's core operations are divided into four departments: control, customs crime, intelligence, and revenue. The Swedish Customs Agency is now seeking operational case officers for the control department, based in Stockholm. Internal control is the department within the control division responsible for ensuring that correct customs duties and other charges are collected for goods imported and exported from the country. We also verify compliance with sanctions, restrictions, and import/export regulations. The assignment ultimately aims to ensure that only approved goods cross Sweden's borders. About the Position As an operational case officer within Internal Control, your main responsibilities will include ensuring that businesses and individuals comply with customs regulations by examining and clearing customs declarations. You will primarily work with import flows and classify goods according to the Customs Tariff. Our workplace consists of an open office landscape and a clearance office, where we always wear uniforms in the clearance office. The work offers great variety and may include office operations, case handling, various types of administrative work, development work to meet new requirements from the EU Commission, and in specific cases, physical goods inspections. As a case officer, you make various types of government decisions daily based on applicable legislation. The Swedish Customs Agency is a control authority that also acts according to directives from other authorities. The work is performed in several different digital systems and involves contact with businesses, individuals, freight forwarders, and other government agencies. New questions and situations require you as an operational case officer to be flexible and solution-oriented. Currently, the Swedish Customs Agency is undergoing an exciting and comprehensive transformation to implement new customs legislation with accompanying new systems. This means you must be curious and interested in learning new things, as well as work on developing continuous improvements to both work processes and system support. It also means you will need to work with many different digital systems and continuously update your knowledge regarding various regulations. Are You the One We're Looking For? We are looking for someone who has: Completed upper secondary education plus at least three years of work experience and/or: Completed qualified vocational education/vocational college education within freight forwarding, logistics, economics, law, or alternatively studies of at least 60 credits/90 ECTS within freight forwarding, logistics, economics, law, political science, or other education that the employer considers equivalent Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English. It is advantageous if you have: Experience with customs-related work during the past five years from, for example, the freight forwarding industry or from operations working with foreign trade Work experience in case handling or case administration from other public or state operations, or similar tasks within private business. Experience with investigative work Good IT skills and experience with agile IT development work Personal Qualities The job suits you if you can make independent decisions within given frameworks and independently drive your work. You should have a good ability to prioritize and focus on the right things as we work with many cases in parallel. We place great importance on personal suitability. Education and Employment Course start for this position is February 24, 2027. During your first months as an employee, you will undergo basic training where theory alternates with practice. The training will be conducted primarily at your place of employment as distance education. There will also be in-person meetings that may take place at other locations, which will involve some travel and overnight stays. Employment begins with a six-month probationary period. After successful completion of training and probation, you will be offered a permanent position unless otherwise agreed.
