The Criminal Investigation Unit seeks staff for the Swedish Customs Service's first NIGS group (National Intervention Surveillance) Do you have experience in operative crime prevention work and are you motivated by assignments where no two days are the same? The Criminal Investigation Unit is now establishing the Swedish Customs Service's first NIGS group and is seeking staff who want to help build a new national capability. We are looking for you who have experience in qualified operative work and who want to work at the intersection of investigation, surveillance, risk assessment and operative actions. The role places high demands on judgment, integrity and flexibility. At the same time, it offers the opportunity to work with complex crime prevention together with experienced and dedicated colleagues, where cooperation, professionalism and shared responsibility are crucial to success. Certain assignments cannot be described in detail. Not because they lack importance, but because they require discretion, thoroughness and high security awareness. The work involves being able to switch between analytical investigative work and operative activities. Preparations, planning and implementation are often decisive factors for a successful result. The pace may vary, but the ability to make well-founded decisions even under pressure is a central part of the assignment. The position includes carrying and handling the Swedish Customs Service's special equipment, including service pistol (Glock 19), OC spray and baton. About Us The Swedish Customs Service has the mandate to stop or seriously disrupt organized crime and to prevent illegal imports of narcotics and doping preparations, alcohol, tobacco, weapons and other goods that threaten life, health and the environment. The Swedish Customs Service consists mainly of the activities of the criminal investigation department, control department, intelligence department and collection department, and the work extends through the entire chain from intelligence, analysis and control to completed preliminary investigation. The Criminal Investigation Department's operational focus is to combat customs-related crime such as smuggling, economic crime and environmental crime, where efforts against large-scale and/or organized crime are prioritized. Operations are conducted within the framework of crime investigation or through measures aimed at leading to crime investigation. The aim is to prosecute principals behind criminal activity, reduce the profitability of criminal activity and significantly disrupt criminal activities. We help reduce the number of criminal networks engaged in narcotics, alcohol or tobacco smuggling or economic crime. The Criminal Investigation Department consists of a national IT and technology center responsible for covert enforcement measures, surveillance techniques and IT forensics, the Swedish Customs Service laboratory and four criminal investigation units that are responsible for their respective geographical areas: South, West, East and North. The units are divided into operational areas: surveillance, investigation of serious crimes and investigation of volume crimes. Your workplace will be at the Criminal Investigation Unit South. About the Position The work includes, among other things Operative planning and implementation of coordinated actions Surveillance activities Apprehension and strike functions Preparation and implementation of enforcement measures such as house searches and bringing in for questioning Handling and responsibility for criminal investigations with the following preliminary investigation work Contact and cooperation with preliminary investigation leaders, prosecutors and other authorities The position involves two-shift work (day and evening). Weekend work does not normally occur We are looking for you who have: Post-secondary education within a crime prevention authority and/or post-secondary education in law, intelligence activities, analysis, criminology or another field that the employer deems relevant Extensive experience from relevant crime prevention activities. Completed and passed training for service pistol, carrying in service Good physical condition Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both spoken and written Swedish driver's license, Class B for manual transmission car Swedish citizenship It is advantageous if you have: Well-documented experience working with covert enforcement measures Experience with intervention activities Experience with surveillance activities Trained in conflict management, self-defense, OC spray and baton training Completed and passed surveillance training Well-documented experience with the Swedish Customs Service and/or the Criminal Investigation Unit's area of operation Personal Qualities Curious with strong analytical ability Responsive and attentive to details Mentally resilient and calm under pressure Flexible and adaptable A team player with very good collaboration skills Willing to continuously develop and challenge yourself Social competence, good interpersonal manner with the ability to be a good representative for the authority Other Information: Reference Number: TV-2026-14716 Work Location: Malmö Employment Form: The employment is a permanent position and begins with a 6-month probationary period with individual salary determination.
