Description We are looking for someone who wants to help shape a city where transportation works despite ongoing construction and renovation, where children can safely walk to school even during building projects, where public transit moves efficiently, where business transportation functions, and where growing challenges in goods delivery can be managed in dense urban environments. As a specialist Traffic Coordinator with a particular focus on goods transportation in urban development, you will be a crucial piece in making the city function both during construction periods and in the future, especially in dense urban areas where conflicts between freight traffic and vulnerable road users may arise. You will be part of the specialist unit Traffic and Mobility, where expertise in traffic, urban design, mobility, and social perspectives come together. Here you work with engaged colleagues on urban development projects from detailed levels to larger scales. In addition to close collaboration with colleagues in traffic coordination and mobility management during construction phases, you will also be part of a geographic team for one of three areas in the city and provide expertise on goods-related issues to other traffic coordinators. Furthermore, your expertise in goods transportation will support the design and traffic planning in the department's various projects. Goods-related issues are both current and future concerns. Key Responsibilities Work in close collaboration with Trafikverket and Västtrafik as well as other external stakeholders within Gothenburg city. As a traffic coordinator, you drive your issues independently and as part of a group with a structured approach. The role involves many contact points, which means it is important to see the bigger picture and to build and maintain good relationships. Examples of work tasks: Help coordinate construction and infrastructure projects in Gothenburg based on overall traffic impact during the construction phase. This may involve helping traffic-impacting projects so they don't conflict with or block each other, and ensuring that prioritized traffic can flow through. Review traffic routing principles from projects. Assess effects and handle potential conflicts of interest related to traffic impact and different user groups. Contribute goods expertise to development and infrastructure projects—both during construction and for permanent solutions. Plan and conduct knowledge-building initiatives on goods in urban development. Help develop the city's processes, methods, and planning tools to address goods-related issues. Participate in the city's goods group, with representatives from the Development Administration, City Environment Administration, and City Planning Administration, for coordination and knowledge sharing on city-wide goods issues. Qualifications For this position, we see that you have higher education in civil engineering or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. You should have experience in the traffic field and/or construction of infrastructure projects, as well as goods transportation issues. For this position, you also need to have a category B driver's license. Merits include: Experience with analyses, traffic studies, and traffic planning/traffic coordination in urban environments Knowledge of goods in urban development Knowledge of public transportation Since the work involves many contact points internally and externally, it is important that you have very good collaboration skills and are responsive. The work is complex, which requires analytical abilities on your part as well as an understanding of the bigger picture. We see that you are thorough in your work and have the ability to drive things forward independently. You need to be able to communicate a message pedagogically to large groups and generally have ease expressing yourself orally and in writing.
