Job Duties Would you like to work part-time hours while doing something meaningful? As an hourly substitute in relief services, you support children and young people with disabilities and provide their parents with respite care. About the Position As a relief worker, you temporarily take responsibility for caring for a child or young person in their home. The work is based on the individual's needs and may include help with personal hygiene, meal preparation, light cleaning, walks, or various activities. It can also involve playing favorite games, crafts, or simply being social company. Many of the children we work with need clear structure and communication, which means you may use methods such as low-arousal approach (LAB) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Unlike many other hourly positions, relief services means you receive a set schedule with a specific child. This means you become an important part of the child's daily routine as regular staff, with fixed and recurring work shifts each week. The schedule is planned in consultation with the family and adapted to both their needs and your availability. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for someone who is responsible, confident working independently, and has an ability to build trust. You have an interest in working with children or young people with disabilities, whether you have previous professional experience or experience through close relations. Continuity and trust are important in this role. We therefore seek someone who can work continuously and build a safe and long-term relationship with the families you support. Medical responsibility always lies with the guardian, according to decisions on self-care. Working Hours Working hours vary depending on family needs and may be scheduled for weekdays, evenings, weekends, and nights. Qualifications To work as a substitute in disability support, you must be at least 18 years old, in accordance with regulations on young workers' work environment (AFS 2023:2). If you do not have a passing grade in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1, you may be offered a language test via EducateIt. We consider it an advantage if you have completed or are pursuing education in the field, such as support assistant, nursing assistant, or a completed or ongoing academic education in healthcare, behavioral science, or pedagogy. Previous work experience in disability support or health and care is also an advantage. If you have previous experience or knowledge of low-arousal approach (LAB) or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), that is also an advantage, but not a requirement. As a substitute in disability support, you put the individual at the center, have a pedagogical approach, and a genuine interest in people with various types of disabilities. It is important that you are responsive to the individual's needs so you can adapt your approach in different situations.
