With us, you make a difference in every shift. About the job As a temporary worker, you work when the operations need extra support. You get flexible work where you can influence your own availability while developing both personally and professionally. With us, you support care recipients with various disabilities within support services or care recipients in elderly care and are part of their daily lives. Our operations are located in the central and outlying areas of the municipality and run 24/7. As an employee with us, you work varied hours including days, evenings, and weekends based on your availability. Within elderly care, there is dedicated night staff, and within support services, on-call shifts are common. Care Homes/Safety Housing Care homes are designed for people with dementia. Living with dementia can mean impaired memory, orientation ability, and communication skills. Safety housing is offered to seniors who have developed physical disabilities due to age or illness. Care recipients live here who, for example, may have difficulty walking and moving independently, but also some with dementia. As an employee, you contribute to a meaningful daily life for our seniors. Your support may include, for example, cleaning, laundry, showering, managing medication, assistance with toilet visits, and support during meals and enjoyable activities with our care recipients. Home Care Within home care, you support care recipients to live as independently as possible. The work takes place in their own homes. Your support may consist of, for example, showering, toilet visits, managing medication, and support during meals. Your support may also include leisure time with our care recipients such as going for walks, reading the newspaper, or having coffee. There is also a night patrol that provides care and service interventions in care recipients' homes at night. You work either alone or together with a colleague and respond to incoming alarms and make home visits throughout Karlstad municipality. Within home care and at our facilities, day and evening shifts are worked between 6:45 AM–10 PM distributed across weekdays and weekends. We have dedicated night staff working night shifts. Cleaning and Service Unit Within our service unit, you help care recipients to have a clean and pleasant home. The work takes place in the care recipient's own home and you help with vacuuming, wet-cleaning floors, and dusting. You will also perform maintenance services such as changing curtains, light bulbs, and fetching and carrying items to attics or basements. Support Services Within support services, you support people with disabilities to have a meaningful daily life based on their individual needs and abilities. Our care recipients are both adults and children. Your support may consist of, for example, showering, toilet visits, support during meals, and/or providing educational tools so that the care recipient can understand and manage their daily life. Working hours within support services vary depending on where in the operations you work. At our service housing, working hours are distributed between day and evening from 7:00 AM–9:30 PM, where each shift is 8–12 hours long. If you work at a group home, each shift is approximately 10 hours, and for on-call shifts, you work a total of 20 hours. Both sleeping and awake night shifts occur at our various facilities. Who are you? We are looking for someone who is at least 18 years old and who enjoys working with people. You are responsible, attentive, and have good interpersonal skills. You enjoy working both independently and together with others and have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. As an employee, you need to be able to meet each person with patience and respect. The work requires that you can adapt to different situations and understand that changed behavior is often part of the disease picture. If you have education or previous experience in care and support, this is a merit, but what is most important to us is your willingness to learn, your commitment, and your ability to create security for those you meet.
