Hourly Substitute Caregiver at Västergården - Young Dementia Care

At Västergården, we are seeking hourly substitutes who want to work closely with people living with cognitive illness at a younger age, sometimes called young dementia. We provide care for people up to 65 years old, both on a permanent basis and for shorter periods. We base our approach on each person's needs and what the person can still do and enjoys doing. We do this with care, respect, and compassion as our foundation. Your Role in the Team As an hourly substitute, you work when regular staff are on leave or absent. You assist with care and other support needed to make daily life feel safe and function well. Together with your colleagues, you get to know the residents, their habits, and what matters to them. Nurses, rehabilitation staff, coordinators, and management are available nearby, both in day-to-day work and in planning. Your duties include: Assistance with personal care Support during meals, bedtime routines, and other daily activities Participating in activities such as games, exercise, and conversation Encouraging residents to do what they are capable of doing themselves Handling medications and performing other delegated health and nursing tasks Documenting information that needs to be followed up About Västergården Västergården in Gothenburg is a residence for people under 65 years old who have cognitive illness. Here, we focus on seeing what each person can still do, rather than only focusing on what has become difficult. We call this the "CAN-list." Our team works closely together and supports one another. As an hourly substitute, you will have colleagues around you who know the facility, procedures, and residents well. You listen, show respect, and try to understand what the person needs in the moment. You collaborate well with your colleagues, take responsibility for your work, and ask when something is unclear. Qualifications Completed or ongoing education in care and welfare Experience in care and welfare work, from previous employment or internship Basic computer skills and ability to document digitally You speak and write fluently in Swedish Experience working with people with cognitive illness is a merit We warmly welcome your application! Upon being offered employment, you must present a valid ID document and a certificate from the police's criminal record register and suspicion register. The certificate must not be older than six months. If your certificate was issued before March 1, 2026, you will need to order a new one that covers both registers.
