Hourly Paid Pig Barn Technician

Lövsta Agricultural Research We are looking for you to work as an hourly paid barn technician in VH-barn operations' pig barn at Lövsta Agricultural Research, to cover regular staff's sick leave and time off during the period September to December 2026. About the job We are looking for someone with a great interest in animals who wants to work with daily tasks in a pig facility such as daily care and supervision in barns, cleaning, record-keeping, administration, weighing, and feeding. The work includes weekend work. Daily work is alternated with routine work and barn work in research projects. Your background You should have practical experience and preferably theoretical knowledge of pig production. We place great importance on personal qualities such as ability to collaborate, independence, as well as initiative and organizational skills. You should be interested in working with researchers and students. It is meritious if you have a driver's license (category B), have completed a laboratory animal course, have experience with record-keeping, and if you have experience with tractor driving. About us Lövsta Agricultural Research has approximately thirty employees in total working in the pig facility, which includes 110 breeding sows with integrated production, and the dairy cattle herd of 300 cows with recruitment and administrative staff. The barns are highly mechanized with, among other things, milking robots (VMS) in the cattle barn. The operation conducts approximately 20 research projects annually and receives a couple of thousand SLU students. VH-barn operations at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is one of Europe's most modern research infrastructures with facilities for research and education on farm animals.
