Alma Assistans is a dedicated company that, in collaboration with our clients, creates personalized assistance services. We work closely with our clients and understand that good relationships are the key to well-functioning support. We operate throughout Sweden with our main office in Uppsala and local offices in Gävle, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Jönköping, and Växjö. I am an 18-year-old who needs extra support in my daily life. I am active and like to stay busy. I live in my own apartment in central Olofström, where there are good bus connections. During school terms, I attend school and aftercare, where I communicate using pictures. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors. My "roller" has a third wheel so I can get around almost anywhere. I can stand on my own feet and practice regularly in my standing frame (at least 60 minutes/day). I really enjoy music. Others might get tired of hearing the same songs over and over again, but I feel happy and calm from music I recognize. Routines are important to me, and my assistants work systematically throughout the day to create clarity. Since I don't have spoken language, frustration can sometimes occur. It's important that you notice early signs and can redirect me in time. It's important that I know what will happen and feel prepared. When people don't understand me, I can become "lightning angry" and maybe throw something on the floor or flail my arms. Then it's important that you as my assistant stay calm and don't get scared. Just as quickly as I became angry, I become happy again. I always have a twinkle in my eye – I enjoy humor and laughter. Who are you applying for this job? You should ideally enjoy being active while also being able to take things at a slower pace. You need to be stable and responsive; it's a plus if you have experience with autism and challenging behavior. Most importantly, you need to be grounded and have your heart in the right place. Here you have a chance to make a difference for a young man as he enters adulthood. Team/summer substitute positions include day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
