The Office for Technology and Natural Sciences is a support function tasked with supporting the faculty board and other boards and committees, as well as the institutions and units that are part of the faculty. Uppsala University is seeking students who want to work on study visits, educational activities, and events. The Communications and School Collaboration Unit is part of the Office for Technology and Natural Sciences and primarily works with research and education communication, marketing and student recruitment, and supports collaboration with schools. We are looking for someone who is active, social, and enjoys speaking to groups and working with events. You will help ensure that children and young people encounter technology and natural sciences in a fun and engaging way. As a Teknat Ambassador, you are our student face to the outside world when schoolchildren visit campus and our right hand at events. Student ambassadors are a cornerstone of many of our activities. Duties Duties include teaching, such as leading or assisting programming workshops according to a predefined concept or giving presentations or tours for school classes. You will also assist with various practical tasks at our different events aimed at schoolchildren or the general public. New this year is that you can also work representing technology and natural science education at the SACO fair in Stockholm. Read more about our school activities. We will train you! To become a Teknat Ambassador, you will participate in training where you will learn more about the assignment and meet your fellow ambassadors. The training session takes place on Tuesday, October 6th, from 5:15 PM–7:00 PM, so please book this time in your calendar when you submit your application. There will also be separate training sessions for those interested in guiding on campus, guiding in the Ångström Explanatorium exhibition, or leading workshops for school classes in our Programming Center. Qualifications You are an active student at undergraduate or advanced level at Uppsala University. You speak, understand, and write Swedish fluently. Desirable/Merits It is meritorious if you are studying a program within the Faculty of Technology and Natural Sciences or studying to become a teacher in technology and natural sciences. It is also meritorious if you have previously worked in any of our activities. Other Information You must have work authorization in Sweden. About the Employment The employment is a student assistant position and is fixed-term according to HF 5 chapter § 12. Only those who are admitted to and registered in education at undergraduate or advanced level can be employed as a student assistant (HF 5 chapter § 9 & 10). Start date by agreement. Compensation is 150 kronor per hour worked, paid in arrears. Work location: Uppsala Start Date At the introduction session on October 6th from 5:15 PM–7:00 PM, you will be able to register interest in several different activities during the academic year.
