Section Mission Within special sections at the Swedish Public Employment Service, there are specialists for job seekers who have functional limitations in vision, deafness, and hearing. The specialists are audiologists, deaf consultants, vision specialists, and psychologists as well as employment specialists with a SIUS focus. The section belongs to the unit Jämtland/Härjedalen with responsibility for the counties of Södermanland, Västmanland, Uppsala, and Gävleborgs, as well as other counties in the North region. The goal of our work is to create full participation and equality for people with the aforementioned functional limitations by providing them with support and creating conditions for work or education. Job Description The vision specialist's task is to conduct vision function assessments that clarify the client's conditions for work and studies based on current visual abilities. Another important part of the assignment is to investigate and propose appropriate workplace adaptations. Collaboration with other government agencies and rehabilitation actors is also part of the vision specialist's work. Documentation is an important and recurring element in the job tasks. The service area is primarily Uppsala County, but travel may also occur in Södermanland, Västmanland, and Gävleborgs counties. Other counties in the region may also occur as needed. As part of the assignment, you, as a vision specialist, actively participate in labor market policy assessment work. In all contacts with job seekers and employers, you have a supportive and guiding approach. You contribute to developing the job seeker's knowledge of their conditions, as well as strengthening motivation and orientation toward work. The Swedish Public Employment Service is undergoing digital development that permeates all of our work, so you have both the will and ability to use digital tools. The work also includes collaborating with various partners such as Försäkringskassan, vision centers, education providers, and employers. Our Offering The position is a permanent full-time employment that may be initiated with a six-month probationary period. The placement location is Uppsala. Basic Requirements for the Position Higher education with a rehabilitation focus Specialization education in the vision field: Master's degree in special education with a focus on vision pedagogy and vision pedagogical work, or alternatively you have education and/or experience deemed equivalent, which means competence in: Ophthalmology, Optics, Vision Rehabilitation, Assistive Technology Competence for Compensation of Vision Impairment.
