Adult Education in Stockholm offers a wide range of educational programs within municipal adult education. We have over 40,000 students studying with us annually. Adult Education is divided into four operational areas; this unit belongs to the Admissions and Support operational area. The operational area consists of the Admissions Unit, Support and Testing Unit, Guidance Unit, Student Teams and Center for Civic Orientation, Operations Support, the Language Support Unit, and Adult Education Center Järva.
We base our work on the needs of Stockholmers and our goal is to offer the best possible service to those who turn to us. With us, Stockholmers can apply for Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) and basic and secondary adult education (Komvux). Residents can also get information about educational programs and schools, book career counseling, and test their knowledge in Swedish, English, and mathematics. We have close collaboration between our units as we depend on each other in our respective assignments.
What we offer
Adult Education Center Järva started as a unit on January 1, 2025. Since our start, we have worked on developing the unit and implementing change, where expertise, collaboration, and reaching more people to study form the foundation of our work. We are a small team with mixed professions: career and education counselors, study administrators, test pedagogues, business developers, and a unit manager. We offer an opportunity to be part of and continue developing our operations based on your profession as a career and education counselor. The role offers a varied day-to-day experience where outreach work, collaboration with local stakeholders, and business development are natural parts of the assignment.
Our workplace is located in Kista galleria, three minutes from the subway. We work office hours and primarily on-site at the office, but in the future, some evenings may be included as part of our assignment to also work with local collaboration and outreach work to bring more people to studies. Part of your working hours are scheduled; we see that you are positive about this and flexible when it comes to covering for colleagues when needed. We also staff various locations in the districts, such as citizen service offices and libraries, which means you will work at these locations according to a schedule.

Your role
As a career and education counselor, you provide information about studies, study pathways, and schools. You offer career and education counseling to prospective students, which can be both individual and group-based guidance. You develop individual study plans based on each individual's goals and circumstances, and some student administration is part of the work. You identify and help discover and address barriers to studies and offer customized solutions.
You also participate in outreach activities and events. Furthermore, you collaborate with various stakeholders, such as the Public Employment Service, Job Centers, and schools, to inform and motivate priority target groups to start studying in adult education. Outreach work is also part of the role, to help make adult education visible and spread information about studies in adult education, especially in Järva and the Western Districts. You are part of a team of career and education counselors, where you have a generalist role with the opportunity to specialize in one of the work areas within the unit. We always strive to develop our work with a focus on quality. To continuously improve, we also survey customer satisfaction and use the results to further develop our work.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
Career and education counselor degree
Current experience working as a career and education counselor
Current experience working with adult education
Experience working with digital platforms
Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is advantageous if you have:
Current experience establishing and maintaining collaboration relationships
Current experience working with outreach activities
Experience working with newly arrived persons/persons who have Swedish as a second language.
In your role, you have significant personal responsibility and need to be self-directed and flexible in your work, with the ability to switch between different tasks and target groups based on situation and need. You have many contact points, which requires that you are service-oriented, have very good collaboration skills, and can work effectively in a team with both colleagues, other staff members, and collaboration partners. Since a large part of the position involves informing and clarifying, you need to have good pedagogical skills and be able to adapt your communication to both the recipient and the situation. We also see that you have a genuine interest in participating in the unit's development work and are willing to share your knowledge and experience.
