The Employment and Integration Department is responsible for integrating newly arrived immigrants, employment matters, and municipal activity responsibilities in Umeå Municipality. We are an important party in promoting social sustainability and inclusion in Umeå. We support people toward employment and education and contribute to employers' skills supply and inclusive workplaces. The work is conducted in close collaboration with actors such as social services, the Social Insurance Agency, the Public Employment Service, Region Västerbotten, the Correctional Service, and employers. We are an active party in the collaboration platform Labor Market Square, where we together with government agencies offer coordinated support to people who need help moving forward to employment or studies. The operations are highly dependent on external factors such as societal development, political decisions, changed legislation, and labor market conditions. These changes require continuous development and adaptation of operations. Would you like to contribute to us in the role of career and educational guidance counselor? Your tasks As a new career and educational guidance counselor in the department, it is part of the role to collaborate with an employed career and educational guidance counselor within municipal activity responsibility (KAA, Education Act Chapter 29 § 9). The assignment includes supporting, motivating, and guiding young people and adults, both individually and in groups, to clarify pathways toward studies or employment. The work involves short and long processes with participants who are far from employment and studies, which requires the role to have a coaching approach with the ability to follow up on progress over time, and the courage to explore pathways together with people who have lost motivation. The assignment involves providing conditions to begin/resume studies, or to take steps toward internships/employment. Collaboration with various actors, supporting applications to different educational options, and planning, following up, and concluding internship positions are part of the role. In the assignment, you actively contribute to developing the department's work around studies by highlighting studies as an option for all ages. Documentation tasks within KAA require that you have the willingness to learn, or knowledge of, relevant follow-up systems. Other documentation is done according to procedures in the current operational system. About you You have high social competence, good communication and collaboration skills. You have an easy time building trusting relationships and hope for the future with young people, guardians, and older participants. You are engaged, self-driven, and structured, with good prioritization skills, persistent in your work, and have a quality-conscious work approach. Furthermore, you are flexible, relationship-building, and enjoy working both independently and in a team. Working in the Employment and Integration Department requires an interest and willingness to continuously develop and contribute to the development of operations. Requirements Degree from a career and educational guidance counselor program Knowledge and experience of the education system, guidance from primary to secondary school, and knowledge of the labor market Experience meeting participants with varying needs for special support Experience with NPF, physical/mental health issues, or norm-breaking behavior B-class driver's license Unobstructed knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of English We warmly welcome your application!
