About the Position
We are seeking a Study and Career Counselor for a permanent position with a 6-month probationary period.
Responsibilities and Tasks
As a study and career counselor, your primary mission is to support students, doctoral candidates, and alumni in their transition to working life through career guidance. Your tasks include meeting with target groups both in group settings and on an individual basis.
In individual meetings with target groups, you are expected to coach on application materials and job search strategies. At the group level, this primarily involves conducting career workshops focusing on CVs, cover letters, skills assessments, job interviews, and professional networking.
You will participate in preventive projects aimed at strengthening collaboration with faculties regarding career guidance. When needed, you will also work on planning, organizing, and conducting events such as career fairs.
Given the university's diverse student body and collaboration partners, all activities are conducted in Swedish and English. Some activities are scheduled in the evenings, so evening work may be part of your responsibilities.
Qualifications
For this position, the following are specifically required:
Study and career counseling education or equivalent with focus on conversation methodology
Several years of experience in study and career counseling work
Very strong skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Strong ability to deliver information and presentations to large groups in Swedish and English
Extensive experience conducting individual coaching conversations and group guidance
Strong ability to initiate, arrange, and conduct meetings and events to develop internal and external collaboration
Strong ability to work systematically and manage heavy workloads
The following are particularly meriting for this position:
Experience with career guidance in higher education
Understanding of different recruitment processes
We want these competencies delivered in a pedagogical, engaged, and outward-facing manner. It is also important that you have the ability to build relationships and can demonstrate genuine interest in people and their development. It is equally important to balance creativity and development with a structured and organized approach.
Work Location
The position is located at Student Center, within the Studies and Career Unit. Student Center is part of Malmö University's shared service operations and is organized into five units; in addition to the Studies and Career Unit, these include the International Office, Student Health, Pedagogical Support, and the Study Administration Unit.
The unit has overall coordinating responsibility for guidance work at Malmö University. The work team of 23 people has assignments within operational support at the faculty and in shared operations.
