About the Position
The school currently has approximately 700 students in grades F–9 and around 80 staff members. We are now seeking an engaged and confident student assistant for the lower primary grades who wants to support a small group of students during the school day and contribute to a stable and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
As a student assistant, you will work with a small group of students and help create conditions for them to succeed both socially and academically. You will support students during lessons, breaks, bathroom visits, and other parts of the school day.
You will be an important adult in the student's daily life and work closely with teachers, recreation staff, student wellness services, and guardians. The role requires patience, flexibility, and a calm and clear approach. You need to be able to adapt your support based on the student's needs while contributing to structure, security, and positive relationships.
At IES Södertälje, we work with common routines and close collaboration between different staff groups. We are therefore looking for someone who enjoys working in a team and who shares our conviction that clarity, relationships, and high expectations help students succeed.
This is an hourly position with a fixed schedule.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people
- Has experience with or interest in working with students with neurodevelopmental disorders or other support needs
- Is calm, responsible, and solution-focused
- Has a talent for building good relationships with students
- Is flexible and can adapt your support based on situation and needs
- Enjoys collaborating and communicating with different professional groups
- Has strong ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience working in schools or after-school programs
- Education or training in areas such as neurodevelopmental disorders, pedagogy, conflict management, or interaction approaches
- Experience with low-intensity interaction methods or work with accommodations and special support
Personal Qualities
We place great importance on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is confident, attentive, and has a genuine commitment to supporting children in their development. You are a stable adult who can build trust and contribute to a calm and positive atmosphere around the student.
Employment in primary school requires a criminal background check (extract from belastningsregistret).
